NWS Albany - Winter Storm Today into Tonight and Dangerously Cold Temperatures This Week - Tuesday, January 29, 2019 - 500 AM
*** The information in this email pertains to the following areas only:**** *- In Connecticut: Litchfield County* *- In Massachusetts: Berkshire County* *- In Vermont: Bennington & Windham Counties* *- In New York: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Ulster, Warren and Washington Counties* Dear Emergency Managers and other partners, Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the southern Adirondacks, western Mohawk Valley, Lake George-Saratoga Region, southern Vermont and the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for Litchfield County, CT, the Greater Capital Region, the eastern Mohawk Valley, mid-Hudson Valley, Taconics, Schoharie Valley, Helderbergs, and Washington County in eastern NY. A bitterly cold air mass will move into the region Wednesday afternoon and persist through Friday. The combination of the cold temperatures and winds will produce dangerous wind chills, especially Wednesday night through Thursday. This will likely cause some isolated problems with frozen pipes and broken water mains. In addition, heavy lake effect snowfall is expected for the western Adirondacks Wednesday night into Friday, and additional Winter Headlines will be needed.
