NWS Albany - Wintry Mix This Morning & Damaging Winds & Lake Effect Snow Expected This Evening through Monday Evening - Sunday, February 24, 2019 430 AM
**** The information in this email pertains to the following areas only:**** *- In Connecticut: Litchfield County* *- In Massachusetts: Berkshire County* *- In Vermont: Bennington & Windham Counties* *- In New York: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Ulster, Warren and Washington * * Counties* Dear Emergency Managers and other partners, With a storm system impacting the region, some spotty light freezing rain and sleet will continue this morning until temperatures fully rise above freezing by 7 to 10 AM. Until then, some locally slick travel and hazardous walking conditions can be expected due to a thin glaze of ice. Additionally, strong to damaging winds are expected this evening into Monday evening across much of the region. A High Wind Warning is in effect for all of eastern New York & western New England from 7 this evening until 7 PM Monday. Wind gusts up to 65 mph will result in downed trees & scattered to widespread power outages. Also, lake effect snow and blowing snow will impact the western Adirondacks tonight into Monday. 3 to 5 inches of new snow is expected for this area and the reduced visibility & snow covered roadways will make for hazardous travel.
