NWS Albany - Flood Watch and Wind Advisory tonight into Friday Night - Thursday, December 20, 2018 - 5 AM
**** The information in this email pertains to the following areas only:**** *- In Connecticut: Litchfield County* *- In Massachusetts: Berkshire County* *- In Vermont: Bennington & Windham Counties* *- In New York: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Ulster, Warren and Washington Counties* Dear Emergency Managers and other Partners, A large storm system will bring a widespread moderate to potentially heavy rainfall tonight into Friday night. The rainfall coupled with some snow melt in the higher terrain may produce some minor river flooding and urban/poor drainage flooding. A Flood Watch has been issued for all of eastern New York and western New England. Current forecast rainfall totals are mainly in the 1 to 2.5 inch range with locally higher totals south and east of the Greater Capital Region, especially over the southeast-facing slopes of the Catskills, Greens, Berkshires and Litchfield Hills. A Wind Advisory has been issued for 1AM to 11AM Friday for the northern Taconics, northern Berkshires and Bennington County, VT. Strong east to southeast gusty winds are expected especially above 2000 feet in elevation. Finally, a brief period of light freezing rain cannot be ruled out at the onset of the precipitation tonight over the southern Adirondacks, but it should turn to plain rain through the night.
