NWS Albany - Light Snow for Friday Morning Commute, Major Winter Storm Possible This Weekend - Thursday, January 17th, 2019 - 500 AM
**** The information in this email pertains to the following areas only:**** *- In Connecticut: Litchfield County* *- In Massachusetts: Berkshire County* *- In Vermont: Bennington & Windham Counties* *- In New York: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Ulster, Warren and Washington Counties* Dear Emergency Managers and other partners, A *light snowfall is still expected tonight into Friday morning *which may impact the Friday morning commute. A *significant winter storm may impact the region this weekend* with snowfall totals possibly exceeding 9 inches. There is still uncertainty in the forecast in terms of snowfall accumulations, sleet/freezing rain amounts and the exact track of the storm. The time frame for greatest impacts is Saturday afternoon into Sunday evening. Snow may change to a wintry mix including freezing rain for areas south of the Capital District, with mainly snow expected from the Capital District north.
