Also, there is still the threat of accumulating snow and mixed wintry precipitation that will likely affect the region Monday night and Tuesday. Attached please find our current forecast for wind gusts for today, then the forecast snow and ice amounts for the winter weather that is expected Monday night and Tuesday. *Changes with this update:* - *Wind Advisory:* Remains in effect for most of Massachusetts (except Bristol County) through 7 PM, then continues through *9 PM* for Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard and Block Island (New Shoreham). - Updated snow and ice accumulations for Monday Night and Tuesday. - Updated River levels and timing to lower below flood stage for points on the Connecticut, Wood and Pawcatuck Rivers *River Rises, Strong Winds and Rough Seas: Today through Monday* *River Rises/Minor Flooding:* *Locations*:The Pawcatuck River at Westerly, Wood River at Hope Valley, and the Connecticut River at Hartford and Middle Haddam. *Timing*: Through this evening at Hope Valley, and through Monday at Westerly, Hartford and Middle Haddam. *Impact*: Rivers rising to near or over minor flood stage. *Trends*: Slowly rising at Westerly, cresting this afternoon at Hope Valley and late Monday morning at Hartford, Rising to above flood stage by early Monday afternoon at Middle Haddam. *Confidence*: Moderate to High. *Strong Winds:* *Locations*: Most of Massachusetts except Bristol County, as well as Block Island in RI and Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard in MA. *Timing*: Through this evening. Strongest winds late this morning and afternoon. *Wind Speeds*: W to NW winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph. *Impact*: Gusty winds could blow unsecured objects around. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. *Confidence*: High. *High Seas: * *Locations*: Coastal waters from Provincetown to Chatham to Nantucket and out 20 nm, Coastal waters 25nm south of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. *Timing*: Through 7 PM Sunday. *Wave Heights*: 10 to 15 feet. *Impact*: Hazardous seas combined with strong winds could capsize or damage vessels. *Confidence*: High. *Accumulating Snow to Wintry Mix: Monday Night and Tuesday* We are continuing to monitor a period of wintry weather for Monday night and Tuesday. Confidence continues to increase that conditions will deteriorate Monday overnight through the Tuesday morning commute, and be impacted by snow and/or ice covered roads with potential for travel difficulties. The precipitation will begin as snow across most of the region, except as a mix of rain, sleet and snow along the immediate south coast Monday evening. Expect the snow to gradually change to a wintry mix by around 1 to 3 AM Monday. While most of the interior will remain a wintry mix, the snow and/or mixed precipitation will change over to all rain across E and SE MA into coastal RI, as temperatures warm rise to above freezing earlier. *Confidence:* Remains moderate to high on wintry weather impacting the Tuesday morning commute, though Moderate confidence in snow and ice accumulations. Changeovers for precipitation type and timing remain uncertain which may alter the overall snow and/or ice accumulations. There is the potential for steadier bands of snow that may produce snow rates at or an inch per hour or a bit higher into early Tuesday morning, though it is not clear where any of the bands may set up.
