Good morning, Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon across Southern New England, with a somewhat greater chance north and west of Interstate I-95. A few of these storms may produce sporadic, isolated instances of severe weather, indicated in the dark green area on the attached severe weather graphic. The main risk remains isolated downed trees and power lines produced by thunderstorm wind gusts between 40 to 60 mph. Up to 1 inch diameter hailstones are possible, but it is a secondary risk and the majority should remain below 1 inch in diameter. Localized downpours are possible with any thunderstorm, which may produce urban/street flooding if persistent thunderstorms develop over urban or poor drainage areas; however overall risk for flooding is low. Still thinking the timing is between 2 to 9 pm today, particularly during the mid to late afternoon hours. This will be our last update for this event, unless there is a significant change.
