There is a potential for severe thunderstorms this afternoon across all of Southern New England. *WHAT/WHEN:* - Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms with the main risk from 2 to 10 pm. *WHERE:* - All of southern New England is at risk, but the greatest risk is north and west of the Boston to Providence corridor. *POTENTIAL IMPACTS:* - Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat. Large hail is a secondary threat. - Low risk for an isolated tornado - Torrential downpours with any strong storms will result in a localized flash flood threat - Dangerous cloud to ground lightning will pose a risk to those with outdoor activities, including mariners and beach goers. *UNCERTAINTY:* - A few showers or thunderstorms are moving into Western CT and Western MA this morning. A second round of thunderstorms is expected this afternoon. If the clouds from this morning's thunderstorms linger they may diminish the ability for the afternoon storms to form. If clearing develops fast, the severe weather risk would increase.
