Good afternoon, Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop Wednesday afternoon across Southern New England, with a somewhat greater chance north and west of Interstate I-95. A few of these storms may produce sporadic, isolated instances of severe weather, indicated in the dark green area on the attached severe weather graphic. The main risk is from isolated downed trees & powerlines produced by thunderstorm wind gusts between 40 to 60 mph. Up to 1 inch diameter hailstones are possible, but it is a secondary risk and the majority should remain below 1 inch in diameter. Localized downpours are possible underneath any thunderstorm, which may produce urban/street flooding if persistent thunderstorms develop over urban or poor drainage areas; however overall risk for flooding is low. An anticipated timing is between 2 to 9 pm Wednesday, particularly during the mid to late afternoon hours. Expect our next update to this briefing by 600 AM Wednesday morning. Thank You!
