NWS Boston EM Briefing - update on ocean effect snowfall
Good evening everyone, There have been no changes to the Winter Weather Advisories, which remain in effect for Barnstable and eastern Plymouth Counties until 4 PM Saturday. However, we have upped event totals to as much as local 6 to 8 inch amounts in eastern Plymouth County by Saturday afternoon (see attached map). Snowfall so far has been as high as 3 to 4 inches in spots. FYI, the criteria for a Winter Storm Warning is if an average of 8 inches falls in a 24 hour period. This is over a much longer period and those higher amounts are more localized, not common throughout the zone. So, that is why Advisories remain posted. -- Glenn Field and Kevin Cadima NWS - Boston/Norton If you have any questions or would like more information, don't hesitate to contact us via this email address, on NWSChat <https://nwschat.weather.gov/>, or at the following: National Weather Service Boston/Norton, MA 46 Commerce Way Norton, MA 02766 508.622.3280 Website <http://www.weather.gov/boston> | Facebook <http://www.facebook.com/NWSBoston> | Twitter <http://www.twitter.com/NWSBoston>
