[2024.03.09 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Strong Winds, Heavy Rain, minor river & tidal flooding
Good afternoon everyone, A quick hitting storm system will move across the region tonight into Sunday morning with the following impacts - Strong southeast winds gusting up to 55 mph, highest winds Cape Cod & Cape Ann, where power outages are possible. A wind advisory has been posted for the coastline of MA & RI - These strong winds combined with high astronomical tides will result in minor tidal flooding (minor inundation & coastal erosion) during the time of high tide Sunday morning & early afternoon. A coastal flood advisory has been posted for the entire coastline of MA and RI. - Heavy rain with 1-2" inches of rainfall, yielding minor street/highway flooding tonight. - With rivers and streams already swollen from heavy rain earlier this week, renewed minor flooding is possible across CT, RI and MA. Therefore, a flood watch has been posted for most of the region.
