Dear Emergency Managers and other partners,
We are watching the potential for river flooding early next week from
combined snowmelt and a possible significant rainfall event late Sunday
through Monday. Rivers most at risk for flooding include the Mohawk, those
located across the southern Adirondacks, the upper Hudson and Hoosic
basins, and rivers across southern Vermont.
Based on current timing, it appears that river crests would be most likely
to occur Monday into Tuesday.
We will continue to monitor trends until rainfall and snowmelt forecast
amounts become more clear.
In addition, locally heavy rainfall with possible embedded thunderstorms
could lead to flooding of poor drainage and urban areas Sunday night into
Monday. This potential includes all of eastern New York and western New
England.
