[Weather] [2020-04-10 PM] NWS Boston EM Heads-up Briefing for Heavy rain/Strong Winds Monday

Good afternoon,

A strong storm is forecast to pass west of New England Monday, bringing
strong winds and heavy downpours to Southern New England.  This is a
heads-up notice in advance of any actions taken this weekend.

*Headlines:*

No headlines are in effect at this time. It is possible that headlines will
be issued over the weekend.

*Details:*

*Strong to Damaging Winds:*

South winds will increase Sunday night. Wind gusts 50 to 60 mph are
possible on Monday on Cape Cod and Islands. Wind gusts 40 to 50 mph are
possible along the remainder of the coastline, the coastal plain, and
higher elevations inland.

*Heavy Rain:*

Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is possible from late Sunday night through
Monday.  This may cause areas of urban and poor drainage flooding.  River
flooding is not expected.

*Thunderstorms*:

Thunderstorms will move through ahead of a cold front Monday afternoon and
early night. These may cause a lightning hazard as well as strong wind
gusts.
