Good morning,
There is a strong ocean storm expected to skirt by southeast of southern
New England. This will bring strong winds across coastal areas especially
Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Strong winds and high waves are
expected across the ocean.
Light snowfall accumulation coupled with the strong winds could result in
slick travel across Cape Cod Friday night into Saturday morning.
Please see the details below for more information. Attached are graphics of
the highest wind gusts and wave heights expected.
*Headlines and Where: *
- *High Wind Watch *for Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket Friday Evening
through Saturday Morning
- *Wind Advisory* for Block Island, Southern and Eastern Plymouth Friday
Evening through Saturday Morning
- *Storm and Gale Watches* in effect for the ocean waters Friday Evening
into Saturday
*What: *
- North winds of 20 to 40 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph.
*When: *
- Highest wind gusts expected Friday night into Saturday morning.
- Highest wave heights are expected Saturday morning.
*Impacts:*
- Tree limbs and power lines may be blown down that could cause damage
along with power outages.
*Confidence:*
- Forecast winds may increase depending on the track of the low.
- If the storm tracks closer to the coast then speeds would be higher
and stronger winds would push further inland
- If the storm pushes further offshore lesser winds would be expected
Expect another updated briefing no later than 5 PM this evening.
