[Weather] [8.18.21 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Heavy Rain Thursday and Tropical Storm Henri

Good evening everyone,

Little has changed regarding the potential for flooding overnight and
Thursday. The greatest risk remains to the west of our region, but it's
possible that portions of western/northwestern Massachusetts are affected
by locally heavy rainfall and typical minor poor drainage flooding.

We've attached an updated one-page briefing on Tropical Storm Henri along
with updated graphics showing the most likely and earliest reasonable times
of arrival of tropical storm force winds. The latest forecast track has
Henri centered over Nantucket as a tropical storm at 2pm this Monday.
Uncertainty in the forecast track remains fairly high and adjustments in
the track are likely over the next few days.

Potential impacts from Henri remain uncertain, but tropical storm force
winds will be a possibility for portions of southern New England,
especially for the outer Cape and Islands. High surf, dangerous rip
currents, and rough seas may be an issue as well. Additionally, high
astronomical tides may lead to some degree of coastal flooding. The
severity of any coastal flooding will be dependent on the timing and track
of the storm.
