[Weather] [01.19.2023 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Snow/Icing into Friday

Good afternoon,

Please find our latest briefing, regarding the winter weather impacting our
region through tomorrow afternoon, attached.

In general, expected snow totals have decreased due to potential
precipitation type mixing north of the I-90 corridor. North of the Route 2
corridor, 2-5" of snow/sleet is expected with isolated totals up to 6" is
possible; 1-2" of accumulation is expected between I-90 and Route 2. For
CT, the greatest concern is for advisory level freezing rain across the
highest terrain of Hartford County.

The Coastal Flood Advisory has been expanded to include Cape Cod and
Nantucket.

Looking ahead, there is potential for another coastal low to impact
southern New England during the Sunday night/Monday timeframe. The best
potential for snow from this low will be in central and western MA as well
as the high terrain of CT, with rain expected again along and southeast of
the I-95 corridor. Gusty winds and minor coastal flooding are also possible
with the late weekend system, especially across eastern MA, the Cape and
Islands. We will begin messaging for this storm in more detail tomorrow
afternoon.
