[Weather] [2024.02.12 AM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Winter Storm Tuesday

Good morning,

Attached is an updated briefing package for the Winter Storm to impact the
region Tuesday.  Since our briefing Sunday afternoon, here is what has
changed -

   - Axis of heaviest snow has shifted southward into CT, RI and
   along/south of the Mass Pike, including the Greater Boston area


   - Arrival of snow is slightly slower/later, between 4 AM and 8 AM Tuesday


   - Winter Storm Watches for southern RI and southeast MA have been
   upgraded to Winter Storm Warnings for increased confidence in 6+ inches of
   snowfall


   - High Wind Watches for Cape Cod and the islands have been upgraded to
   High Wind Warnings for increased confidence in wind gusts up to 60 mph


   - Coastal Flood Watches from Boston southward to Cape Cod and the
   islands have been upgraded to Coastal Flood Warnings for increased
   confidence in moderate coastal flooding

This will be a short duration but high impact winter storm Tuesday, with
the heaviest snowfall approximately from 9 AM to 3 PM, except 12 PM to 5 PM
across Cape Cod.  Additional details
can be found in the attached briefing package. We will provide an updated
briefing package no later than 6 PM Monday.

We've also attached a model simulation of the hourly snowfall rates. These
aren't expected to be exact, but should give a rough idea of overall timing
and impacts.
