[Weather] [2025.12.26 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Accumulating Snow Tonight/Sat Morning

Good afternoon,

Please find attached a one-page briefing with the latest update on the
clipper system forecast to bring accumulating snow to most of southern New
England tonight into tomorrow morning.

*Current Confidence*

We have moderate to high confidence in the following snowfall totals:

- 4–8 inches across western MA/CT
- 3–6 inches for central MA, eastern CT, and southern Rhode Island (RI).

Confidence is lower across east/southeast MA, but 2–4 inches of
accumulating snow is expected in those locations as well.

Ocean effect enhancements may boost snow totals up to 4-6" for portions of
The South Shore in MA, but confidence in where these enhancements will
occur is low.

*What Has Changed*

- A *Winter Storm Warning* has been issued for western Hampden County in MA
and Hartford County in CT.
- *Winter Weather Advisories* have been expanded eastward to include
Providence County in RI and Bristol and Plymouth Counties in MA.

*Timing*

The timing remains unchanged:

- Snow moves into western MA/CT between 7:00 PM–9:00 PM.
- Snow reaches eastern MA between 10:00 PM–midnight.
- Snow ends between 4:00 AM–7:00 AM tomorrow morning, with lingering
flurries until mid-morning over the east coast.

*Post-Event Outlook*

Drier conditions are expected late Saturday into Sunday.* We wanted to
raise awareness of another system that may bring a threat of freezing rain
late Sunday evening into early Monday morning, mainly across interior
southern New England.*

The attached image highlights the areas with the greatest potential for
freezing rain. If confidence in this outcome increases, additional winter
headlines may be needed for icing Sunday night into Monday.
