[Weather] [2019.10.11 AM] Emergency Management Briefing For Offshore Ocean Storm

Good morning,

A long duration storm system continues to bring wind, rain and coastal
flooding to the region today into this evening. Details are below along
with the attached briefing.

*What has changed ...*

   - The *FLOOD WATCH* has been canceled.
   - A *WIND ADVISORY* continues for the Cape & Islands through 6 pm.
   - A *COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY* has been issued for Nantucket with the
   11:30 am high tide.
   - *STORM WARNINGS* have been canceled.
   - *GALE WARNINGS* continue till 5 am Saturday at the latest.

*What / Where / When ... *

*Strong to damaging winds (Cape & Islands)*

   - Especially along the immediate coastline for the areas referenced above
   - Max sustained around 25 to 35 mph, max gusts around 35 to 50 mph
   - Isolated tree damage, power outages
   - Strongest winds this morning into this afternoon, diminishing evening
   and overnight

*Minor coastal flooding (Nantucket)*

   - Around 1.5 to 2.0 foot surge with high tides + around 5 to 10 foot
   waves
   - Less than one-foot of inundation above ground level is possible in
   low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways, more specifically,
   potential issues for Easy Street in Nantucket
   - For the high tide around 11:30 am
   - Surge lowers into Saturday with diminishing wind and wave action
   - Beach erosion remains possible with persistent northeast winds and
   waves of 10 to 20 feet up to the entrances of inner bays and sounds

*Gale force winds along with high seas (all waters)*

   - Dangerous sea conditions for all vessels
   - Strong winds and high seas continue this morning into this afternoon,
   diminishing overnight into Saturday
   - Max sustained winds around 25-35 kts, gusts around 35-45 kts; highest
   seas around 10-20 feet
