Isolated damaging wind gusts and large hail could occur across portions of the Taconics, as well as across southern Vermont, western Massachusetts and northwest Connecticut. Dear Emergency Managers and other partners, The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center continues to outline 'Slight Risk' and 'Marginal' outlook areas for severe thunderstorms today. The area of greatest threat will generally be for areas south and east of Albany in eastern New York, and the Berkshires and Litchfield Hills of western New England. Timing of the thunderstorms will be from this afternoon through the early evening. The primary threats will be damaging wind gusts, large hail and dangerous cloud to ground lightning strikes. Low lying, urban and poor drainage areas may experience flooding due to downpours within thunderstorms. There is a low chance for an isolated flash flood as well. There is also a chance for thunderstorms across the Capital Region, Catskills, and Mid-Hudson Valley into western MA and NW CT.
