Areas highlighted in the "slight risk" category in the attached Excessive Rainfall Outlook graphic have the greatest potential for isolated flash flooding. Also attached is the expected total rainfall between 8AM Monday and 2PM Tuesday. While we expect 0.50 to 2.00 inches of rain, locally higher amounts are possible, especially in the Catskills. This may lead to ponding of water in poor drainage/urban and low lying areas where the heaviest rain occurs. An isolated flash flood is possible where any training of showers or thunderstorms occur. Storms late this afternoon into this evening will be scattered in coverage but could result in localized heavy rainfall in the Capital District, Mohawk Valley, mid-Hudson Valley and Catskills. On Sunday, there is a slight risk of severe weather during the afternoon and evening. The main threat is damaging winds. Secondary threats are large hail and isolated tornadoes. Storms moving in during the mid-afternoon into the evening could pose an isolated flash flood threat mainly across the Mohawk Valley, Capital District, Schoharie Valley, and eastern Catskills from 4-10 pm. On Sunday, there is a marginal to slight risk of severe weather during the afternoon and evening. The main threat is damaging winds. Secondary threats are large hail and isolated tornadoes.
