Low lying, urban and poor drainage areas may experience flooding due to downpours within thunderstorms. There is a low chance for an isolated flash flood as well. There is also a chance for thunderstorms across the Capital Region, Catskills, and Mid-Hudson Valley into western MA and NW CT. A few of the storms may become severe with strong to damaging winds being the primary threat. See attached graphics for outlook areas of excessive rainfall and severe thunderstorms. Some embedded thunderstorms with locally heavy downpours may occur during this period which could cause urban, low lying, poor drainage flooding along with rivers/streams approaching near bank-full. Areas highlighted in the "slight risk" category in the attached Excessive Rainfall Outlook graphic have the greatest potential for isolated flash flooding. Also attached is the expected total rainfall between 8AM Monday and 2PM Tuesday. While we expect 0.50 to 2.00 inches of rain, locally higher amounts are possible, especially in the Catskills.
