Good afternoon. - A cold front will move south through the region Tuesday and Tuesday night. Showers and thunderstorms will form along the front and move through Southern New England. - High humidity will support embedded heavy downpours that could cause local poor drainage flooding, with the best chance in CT, RI, and SE Mass. Greetings everyone, A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Western Massachusetts as well as portions of Northern Connecticut. The Watch is in effect through 12 am. A graphic showing the watch area has been attached. - Main concern is strong to damaging winds associated with a sweeping line of storms out of Upstate NY, moving east at roughly 45 mph. - Numerous reports of downed trees and power lines with 40 to 50 mph gusts with this line west of Albany, NY. - Could see some discrete storms out ahead of the line which could be strong to severe. - With any and all activity torrential downpours can be expected which could contribute to localized flooding. Good morning, Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected over Southern New England today into Thursday morning. The primary threats will be *damaging winds and localized torrential downpours*. However, *a* *tornado cannot be ruled out* . The higher likelihood of severe storms today will be in Western/Central Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. This then shifts into Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island tonight into early Thursday. [2019.08.06] Strong/Severe Thunderstorms and Local Downpours Possible Wednesday and Thursday.

Good afternoon, An approaching cold front runs into a warm and very humid airmass Wednesday and Thursday, before moving through Southern New England late Thursday or Thursday night. This will generate strong thunderstorms over Southern New England as well as local downpours. The consequences of such weather would be damage from strong wind gusts and urban/poor drainage flooding from heavy downpours. A tornado cannot be ruled out, but the likelihood is low. All of Southern New England is in play Wednesday and Thursday. But the higher likelihood Wednesday will be in Western/Central Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. This higher likelihood shifts east into Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island Wednesday night and Thursday.
