All, A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of MA, RI and CT until 10 pm EDT Wednesday. Scattered severe thunderstorms are likely with damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph. Storms will be most numerous across northern Massachusetts (including the Greater Boston area) and adjacent sections of CT & RI. Storms will be less numerous southward toward the coast and Islands, including Cape Cod. Isolated up to quarter size hail is also possible. Tomorrow (Thursday) into tomorrow night, weather concerns shift toward heavy rain with a localized flood threat mainly across CT, RI and south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. Also, isolated severe thunderstorms with winds in excess of 60 mph are possible. Good afternoon, Here is the updated weather briefing regarding the heat wave. The main change with this update is to add Kent County RI to the Heat Advisory. In addition, we are now forecasting heat index values 100-104F on Monday, with 95-100F on Tuesday. This maintains a small chance that an Excessive Heat Warning may eventually be warranted Monday for some locales if heat index values reach 105F. We have attached the following: 1. Good morning everyone, Attached is our updated weather briefing regarding the heatwave. The main change with this update is that the Heat Advisory has been expanded to include all of Southern New England except for areas towards the south coast and east slopes of the Berkshires. In addition, we are now forecasting heat index values 100-104F on Monday/Tuesday so there is a small chance that an Excessive Heat Warning may eventually be warranted for some locales if heat index values reach 105F.
