Good morning, Attached is a one page briefing regarding the potential for 40-50 mph wind gusts Saturday night into early Sunday morning. There remains a fair degree of uncertainty with respect to the timing and areal extent of strong winds. Highest confidence for 40-50 mph wind gusts is over The Cape, Islands, and coastal areas where downed tree limbs and power outages will be possible. Good morning, Attached is the latest one page briefing regarding expected accumulating snowfall this evening and tonight. There have been no significant changes since the last briefing. Generally expecting a coating to 2" of snow with the potential for 2-3" over portions of the Worcester Hills. Most accumulations will occur later tonight, thus impacts to the evening commute should be very limited. This will be the final briefing. Good morning, There have been no significant changes in the forecast for minor snow accumulations on Wednesday. We're still forecasting widespread 1-2" of accumulating snow across the interior with lower amounts near the immediate coast. We still expect most of the snowfall to occur during the evening commute which may cause slow downs for people traveling at that time. Good Afternoon To follow up on our earlier email, we have composed a one-pager regarding the minor snow accumulation on Wednesday. In general, a widespread 1-2 inches of snow is expected, with lower amounts along the immediate coast. It is important to reiterate that while snow accumulations will be relatively minor, most of the snow will fall during the evening commute. This may make for a slow commute for many travelers. [2021.12.06 Early PM UPDATE] NWS Boston EM Briefing - Strong Winds Thru Tonight, Light Accumulating Snow Wednesday

Good early afternoon, We are still in the process of finalizing the forecast based on current trends and the latest forecast guidance. However we wanted to send a short update on weather hazards that we are monitoring for Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island through Wednesday night. These include strong winds tonight, and the potential for a light accumulating snow Wednesday into Wednesday night that may bring at least some impact to the Wednesday evening commute. *Strong Winds: Tonight* *Wind Advisories* remain in effect for Berkshire County, much of the South Coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, eastern Plymouth County and Cape Cod and the Islands until 1 AM Tuesday. Attached graphic sent in the briefing sent earlier this morning remains valid. The strongest southerly wind gusts are expected to occur now through the late-afternoon hours. Around and after 7 PM: we have some concerns for a band of gusty showers that will produce brief gusts from the west up to 50 mph as they move from interior New England to the eastern and southern coasts. Sporadic, minor tree damage could be possible as these showers move east. While not meant to be exact, the following forecast radar image gives a sense on the timing of arrival of these gusty showers. An approximate timing would be 7 to 9 PM for the Berkshires, Litchfield Hills to the Interstate 91 corridor in MA and CT, around 8 to 10 PM for central Massachusetts into eastern portions of CT, and between 10 PM and midnight into eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. [image: Gusty Shower Timing Loop.gif] *Light-Accumulating Snow: Wednesday into Wednesday Night* We continue to monitor details regarding a potential light-accumulating snowfall for Southern New England Wednesday into Wednesday night. While we do feel confident that this storm will not bring significant or high forecast snow amounts, the snow amounts are uncertain at this point and will hinge on the storm's track and the time of day in which the bulk of the snow will fall. While some snow may fall in the morning hours, the bulk of it looks to fall between the mid-afternoon to mid-evening hours Wednesday. We do expect some impacts to the Wednesday PM commute, as temperatures fall and begin to support some accumulation on pavement. Our best estimate to be planned on is up to 2 inches across most of Southern New England. If snow accumulates earlier and/or storm track passes closer to Southern New England, such a reasonable worst-case scenario would support a plowable snowfall (3-6") for much of Southern New England. This latter worst-case outcome is considered unlikely. Expect a full briefing update with graphics no later than 500 PM today. Thank You! Maximum wind gusts 40-50 mph are expected, centered across Cape Cod, Coastal Rhode Island, southeast Massachusetts, the Islands, and portions of Berkshire county. A high wind advisory will be in place from 1 PM this afternoon through 1 AM Tuesday. A gale warning will also be in effect from late Monday morning through Tuesday morning.
