Good afternoon everyone Just wanted to send a quick update for the issuance of a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entire state of Connecticut until 8 PM this evening. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon into early this evening across all of southern New England. While there is an isolated severe weather risk across the entire region...the greatest risk is across the state of Connecticut where a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect through 8 pm this evening. The main severe weather threat is localized damaging wind gusts and torrential rainfall. Thank You! Good morning everyone, Attached is our latest briefing regarding the risk for dangerous heat late this week. There have not been any major changes since our previous update. There is also a risk for strong/severe storms today and on Thursday. The severe weather threat today should be more isolated/sporadic in nature; however the severe weather threat on Thursday may be larger in spatial coverage. The main threats with any stronger storms today and Thursday are damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours. The timeframe for the severe thunderstorm risk today is from 2-9 PM. We will have more details about Thursday as we get closer. [07.24.2023 AM] NWS Boston Briefing - Excessive Heat/Humidity Thu & Fri

Good morning everyone, We wanted to give you an early heads up on two or more days of excessive heat & humidity this Thursday and Friday. Temperatures away from the south coast will soar to 90F to 95F both Thursday and Friday, coupled with heat indices of 95F to 104F. In addition, not much relief at night, especially in the urban areas where overnight lows will only cool off to 75-80. Depending on the timing of an approaching cold front, the excessive heat and humidity may linger into Saturday. The heat should break sometime next weekend, with improving conditions Sunday. No headlines are in effect at this time, but will likely be issued later this week for Thu and Fri. Threat continues for a few strong to severe thunderstorms, along with a risk of flash flooding as storms will contain very heavy rainfall. Greatest threat is across western portions of MA & CT, possibly as far east as central MA/CT. Damaging winds and large hail are the main concerns. There is also a very low tornado threat. This is not expected to be anything like Sunday's event in terms of coverage/magnitude. Western/central MA and CT are the most likely locations to be impacted.
