Good morning, Here is a one page briefing and supporting graphics on the potential strong to damaging southerly wind gusts on Friday. We issued a high wind watch for the Cape and Islands where confidence is highest in a period of damaging wind gusts. Strong wind gusts are expected for much of southern New England and wind headlines may eventually be needed, especially for eastern MA and RI. Another period of strong wind gusts from the west is expected Friday night as much colder air pours into the region, and wind headlines may be extended for portions of southern New England. Good morning everyone... We just wanted to give one final update in regards to the accumulating snow that is underway across southern New England. No significant changes in the prior snowfall forecast. 2-4" of snow expected across RI/SE MA with perhaps some localized 5-6" amounts near the south coast. 1-3" of snow in the Hartford/Springfield, to Worcester, to the Boston metro areas. And a coating to 2" north of the MA Turnpike. *We did want to highlight that the snow will linger a bit longer than expected yesterday.* While accumulating snow should end by lunchtime across western MA/northern CT...it should linger into the afternoon elsewhere particularly across eastern MA . In fact...snow showers may linger into the evening hours on the immediate eastern MA coast and especially Cape Cod and the Islands. *Overall...hourly snowfall rates will be on the lighter side with this event...generally less than 1" per hour. There might be a short window near the south coast and Cape Cod where snowfall rates to approach an inch per hour, but generally expect snow rates to be quite manageable.* Attached is the latest snowfall forecast as well as a graphic indicating where the Winter Weather Advisory is in effect. Good afternoon, Here is an updated briefing for our upcoming accumulating snow event late Sunday night into Sunday. - *What's New:* - Addition of southeast Massachusetts counties to Winter Weather Advisory. - Including northern Bristol, Plymouth counties - Minor adjustments to snow totals. - Potential for localized amounts up to 5" for the advisory area. - Very cold and breezy Sunday night bringing wind chills down to 0 to -10 F. Good morning everyone... A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the south coast of both Rhode Island and Massachusetts including Cape Cod and Islands late tonight into Sunday. Otherwise, no real change to the prior forecast. We are still expecting a coating to 1" of snow north of the Massachusetts Turnpike, 1-3" south of the pike, and up to 4" near the south coast. There still is some uncertainty on the northern extent of the main snow shield. While these are lower probability outcomes...we still want to convey that a shift north would bring the potential for 1-2" of snow to near the New Hampshire border with 3-6" possible across Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts. A southward shift would confine the 1-2" amounts to areas near the south coast with less elsewhere. Good afternoon, There have been no changes to the forecast and briefing since early this morning. An updated one-pager briefing is attached. Preliminary snowfall forecast still indicates the potential for 1-2" south of I-90 with perhaps a localized swath of 3-4" near the south coast, while only a dusting to 1" of snow is expected north of I-90. There remains some uncertainty on the northern extent of the snow shield. A further north trend would bring the potential for 1-2" into northern MA and 3-5" south of I-90. Good morning everyone... This is just a heads up email on the potential for accumulating snow later Saturday night into Sunday. Preliminary snowfall forecast indicates the potential for 1-2" south of I-90 with perhaps a localized swath of 3-4" near the south coast. Current indications are for only a dusting to 1" of snow north of I-90. The bulk of the accumulating snow should end by Sunday afternoon...except towards the Cape and Islands where snow may linger into Sunday afternoon and evening. There remains uncertainty on the northern extent of the main snow shield. If this were to shift further north than expected...the potential for 1-2" would extend into northern MA with 3-5" south of I-90. A shift further south than expected would result in little if any snow north of I-90 and only a coating to 1" south of I-90. We have attached a brief one-pager along with a graphic of our preliminary snowfall forecast. The main idea right now is that areas south of I-90 and especially near the south coast stand the greatest chance for a few inches of snow. Temperatures below freezing will result in untreated roads likely becoming snow covered and slippery very late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Good morning everyone... The Wind Advisory has been expanded to cover all of southern New England today into Friday morning. Westerly winds will gust between 35 and 50 mph at times. Wind Chills will drop to between 0 and 10 above and sub-zero in the highest terrain tonight into Friday morning. Attached is a brief one-pager including the Wind Advisory graphic. Good afternoon, Another surge of Arctic air will be returning to Southern New England Thursday and Friday, which will bring a period of gusty to strong northwest winds to go along with low wind chill temperatures. Northwest wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph will be common, but wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected in the higher terrain of Massachusetts and coastal portions of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Please find attached a one-page briefing with attached graphics showing the wind advisory areas, and the maximum wind gusts. We've also included a graphic showing the expected lowest wind chills - which would occur Thursday night to early Friday morning - for your decision-making needs. Good afternoon, Following is an update to the weather briefing for the winter storm ongoing in Southern New England. *What's Changed:* Added minor ( < 0.1") icing accretion from light freezing rain for portions of northern Connecticut and western and central Massachusetts. This has prompted expanding the Winter Weather Advisory for Hartford and Tolland Counties through 7 AM Wednesday. *Timing: * Moderate snows for most of interior central and western Massachusetts, with some occasional sleet and freezing rain mixing in across portions of northern Connecticut, will continue through the afternoon before easing up by evening and tapering off overnight. Rain in portions of eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island are expected to continue through early evening, then change over to a brief period of wet snow between 8 pm and 1 am before tapering off in all areas overnight. This will be the final briefing for this winter weather event, unless there are substantial changes. Thank You!
