Impacts include heavy snow, strong winds, minor coastal flooding, flash freeze and hazardous marine conditions. *Main changes:* - Winter Weather Advisory has been upgraded to Winter Storm Warning across Barnstable County. - High Wind Warnings have been hoisted for the Islands. - Gale Warnings have been upgraded to Storm Warnings across the Southern waters. - Forecast snowfall has been increased across northeast MA, northeast CT and northern RI. Winter Storm Watches have been converted to Winter Storm Warnings, with Winter Weather Advisories for Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. Snow amounts were also increased especially across the interior. NWS Boston EM Briefing: Winter Storm Wed. night into Thursday

Good afternoon everyone, A winter storm will impact the area Wednesday night into Thursday. We have upgraded to Winter Storm Warnings for much of our area, but kept a Winter Storm Watch for southern RI and southeastern MA, where more uncertainty exists for potential mixed precipitation. In addition, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the eastern MA coast within a few hours of the high tide early Thursday afternoon. Minor coastal flooding is expected, with a foot or two of inundation on normally vulnerable areas, along with some beach erosion. Please see the attached briefing for the latest information. Good morning, Please see the attached briefing for the potential winter storm that could bring heavy snow, strong winds, coastal flooding, and hazardous marine conditions Wednesday night and Thursday. We didn't make any significant changes to the forecast, but, we did expand the Winter Storm Watch further north to include the following counties: Hampden, Hampshire, southern Worcester, Middlesex, Norfolk, and Suffolk. As previously said, the exact track of the storm will determine where the axis of heaviest snowfall sets up. Further changes to the forecast are possible if the storm track shifts north or south.
