Good Morning, Attached is the latest briefing for the potential winter storm that could bring heavy snow, strong winds, coastal flooding, and hazardous marine conditions Wednesday night and Thursday. We have included an early look at projected snowfall for the storm which is currently expected to be heaviest in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and southeast Massachusetts where snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are possible late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. There will probably be a sharp cutoff in snowfall totals on the northern edge of the storm, which may end up being near the Route 2 corridor in Massachusetts. Hello everyone, The likelihood that a significant winter storm will affect our region late Wednesday into Thursday is continuing to increase. This storm may produce heavy snowfall across much of the area; strong winds along the coast; and minor to moderate coastal flooding along the eastern MA coast, especially around the time of high tide early Thursday afternoon. Hi everyone, We want to give you an update regarding the upcoming winter storm. Our greatest concern is following the changeover from rain, there is increasing potential for prolific snowfall rates within a narrow band somewhere in Massachusetts mid to late afternoon on Saturday. While it will be well above freezing to begin with, temperatures will rapidly cool and lead to 1-3 inches/hr of snowfall rate. Given that the snow will be heavy and wet in nature, this could have significant effects on travel and lead to widespread power outages wherever the band sets up. While we have high confidence in this narrow band with prolific snowfall rates setting up, the exact location remains to be fine tuned. Thank you. Significant snow accumulation is possible in the interior but where the axis of heaviest snowfall sets up remains uncertain and the axis may shift in later forecasts. Accumulating snow is also possible in the I-95 corridor from Boston to Providence late Sat into Sat evening.
