Good afternoon everyone, Attached is our latest weather briefing regarding high surf & dangerous rip currents associated with offshore Hurricane Larry. The only change was to extend the High Surf Advisory through Saturday, since these conditions are expected to persist for another day. Good morning everyone, Attached is our latest briefing regarding the potential for heavy rainfall along with a few strong to severe thunderstorms tonight into Thursday. The main concern is heavy rainfall, which may lead to localized flooding along with a few storms potentially producing strong to damaging wind gusts. *What has changed - * *1) Higher confidence in heavy rain threat, but lower in severe weather threat* An additional concern we have late this week and into the weekend, when large swells from Hurricane Larry arrive into the MA and RI waters Thursday, peak Friday and then linger into Saturday. These large swells will result in very rough surf and dangerous rip currents, especially at southeast facing ocean beaches for the entire coastline of MA and RI. Now that most beaches are unguarded, these conditions become even more dangerous. In addition, we discourage people from viewing the large surf on rocks and jetties, which can be very dangerous with large breaking waves. Good afternoon everyone, Attached is our latest weather briefing regarding the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms Wednesday night into Thursday. Concerns remain the same, a few storms may produce strong to damaging winds along with heavy rain and localized flooding. *What has changed - * *1) Risk level has increased to a slight risk just west of New England into eastern NY (see attached graphic)* *2) Increasing concern for two rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms, first round Wed night into Thu morning, then a second round Thu afternoon across RI and eastern MA.* An additional concern we have is later in the week and into the weekend, when large swells from Hurricane Larry arrive into the MA and RI waters Thursday, peak Friday and then linger into Saturday. [09.01.2021 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing - Heavy Rain & Flood Potential Late Wed into Thu

Good afternoon everyone, Attached is our latest one-page briefing regarding heavy rain and significant flooding this evening into Thursday morning. Road closures and washouts may impact the Thursday morning commute. A flash flood watch remains in effect for our entire area. A widespread 3-5" of rain is expected, with isolated pockets of 6-7" possible. Since our last briefing, Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts, including Cape Cod, have been upgraded to a slight risk for strong to severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes. The potential for northeast winds of up to 30-40 mph along the eastern MA coast remains for very late this evening and early Thursday morning. Saturated ground and fully leafed foliage will enhance the risk for downed trees. A wind advisory has been posted along the coast from Cape Cod to the New Hampshire border.
