Good Morning Everyone, We are in the peak of the storm for damaging winds and flooding rainfall from now through roughly 12 pm, then conditions will slowly improve (although river flooding will become more of a concern starting this afternoon as runoff enters the rivers). Here are the details: *Damaging Winds: All of Southern New England* - Gusts of 50 to 70 MPH will continue through noon, with the highest gusts in Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts, including Cape Cod and the Islands. - Downed trees and wires may lead to power outages. - Driving will be difficult, especially on bridges. *Flooding Rain: All of Southern New England* - Another 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected today, with the higher totals near the Berkshires. - Flooding of rivers and streams is possible. - Flooding of streets and poor drainage areas will make travel difficult. *Coastal Flooding: South Coastal MA/RI* - Moderate tidal flooding is expected on the upper part of Narragansett Bay around Providence during the midday high tide. Flooding 1 to 2 feet deep may impact more vulnerable locations. Providence may reach 10 feet Mean Lower Low Water which has not occurred since Hurricane Bob in August, 1991. - Minor tidal flooding is expected elsewhere along the Rhode Island and Massachusetts South Coast. Flooding less than one foot deep will impact some coastal roads. - Be aware that some coastal roadways may become impassable around high tide. Good afternoon all, Please find our most recent briefing, regarding the storm system impacting southern New England tonight into Monday, attached. The most significant change with this update is that the Coastal Flood Watch has been Upgraded to a *Coastal Flood Warning* for the RI Coast. A *Coastal Flood Advisory* is in place for the south coast of MA as well as Essex county, given a prolonged period of gusty southeast winds. All other headlines remain the same compared to our previous update. Given the storm will be ongoing at the time of our next anticipated briefing (6 AM tomorrow), any updates will be sent on an ad hoc basis. This will likely be the final comprehensive, multi-page briefing unless there are significant forecast changes overnight. A few notable changes are listed below. *Wind Headlines* - High Wind Watch has been upgraded to a High Wind Warning for the northeast coast of MA, all of southeastern MA, RI, and The Cape/Islands. - Wind Advisory is in effect for the rest of southern New England *Flood Headlines* - Flood watch has been expanded east and now includes the city of Providence *Marine Headlines* - Storm Watch has been upgraded to a Storm Warning for the coastal waters Additional information can be found in the attached PDF. Good afternoon, Please find our latest briefing regarding the upcoming storm system attached. The timing of greatest impact, Sunday night into Monday, has not waivered since our previous update. The most significant changes since this morning revolve around the headlines that have been issued. - A flood watch is now a place for central and Western MA and much of the State of CT - A coastal flood watch is now in place for Narragansett Bay surrounding the Monday lunchtime high tide - A high wind watch has been expanded to approximately the I-95 corridor, encompassing the entire southern New England coastline and some interior counties. - Storm watches remain in place for all of the waters. Good morning, Please find attached a one page briefing regarding the potential for another strong storm to impact southern New England Sunday night into Monday. As with last week's storm, this system will have the potential to bring heavy rainfall leading to river flooding, strong winds, and the potential for coastal flooding. Please find some details below regarding where the forecast stands at this point in time. *Heavy Rainfall* - 40 to 60 percent chance of 24 hour rainfall exceeding 2 inches across most of southern New England between Sunday night and Monday night - Up to a 10 percent chance of 24 hour rainfall exceeding 3 inches west of I-95 - *Confidence is high that this will be an all rain event* *Strong South Wind Gusts (Monday Afternoon)* - 50 to 60 percent chance for 24 hour max wind gusts to exceed 55 mph over the coastal areas - 20 to 40 percent chance for 24 hour max wind gusts to exceed 55 mph inland, with the highest chances over the high terrain (Worcester Hills/Berkshires) *River Flooding* - Several southern New England River gauges have at least a 30+ percent chance of reaching minor flood stage *Coastal Flooding* - South facing coasts will be at risk for minor to moderate coastal flooding if peak storm surge coincides with the Monday afternoon high tide. Please find attached a probabilistic hydrograph for Narragansett Bay at Fox Point, RI to visualize the current uncertainty. These are the aspects of the forecast we'll be monitoring closely as we head into the weekend. At 72 hours out, there is still uncertainty with respect to the timing, location, and magnitude of impacts. Should confidence continue to grow, wind/flood/coastal flood headlines may be issued. We will provide another update with the afternoon forecast package later this afternoon. Good morning, We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to provide you with an update on the ongoing storm affecting our region. Firstly, the coastal flood advisory for Narragansett Bay has been lifted ahead of schedule, as peak gusts arrived before the morning high tide cycle. Consequently, there is no longer a coastal flood threat in the area. Wind advisories have also been rescinded for southern Rhode Island and portions of southeast Massachusetts. However, a High Wind Warning remains in effect for Cape Cod and neighboring islands until 10 am. While a Flood Watch is still in effect, it is anticipated to be lifted later this morning or early afternoon. We will be closely monitoring main stem river flooding from this afternoon through midweek and will issue River Flood Warnings as needed. The weather is expected to trend dry this afternoon with clearing skies into the overnight hours. Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s and low 30s overnight, accompanied by a brisk WNW wind with gusts of 25 to 35 mph early on, diminishing by sunrise on Tuesday.
