Good morning, Attached is a one pager briefing for the potential heavy rainfall today which may produce localized street flooding. There is still uncertainty where the heaviest rainfall will set up, but the best chance is in the interior with a secondary risk across RI. There is also a low risk for a severe storm with damaging wind and a possible tornado if enough instability can be realized. The best chance for severe weather is across western CT and possibly extending into western MA. The heavy rain threat is expected into this evening, with a diminishing trend overnight. Good morning, Since our Friday afternoon briefing, there have been no major changes to the forecast, but confidence continues to increase for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon across the interior of southern New England. Attached is our final one-page briefing for this event. We will send a short update via email this afternoon if any notable changes develop. *Key Points:* - *Greatest risk:* Western/central MA and western CT. - *Timing:* - Storms may develop along the NY border as early as 12–2 PM. - Strongest storms expected 2–7 PM across interior southern New England. - Weakening storms approach the Boston–Providence corridor 7–10 PM. - *Hazards:* - Damaging straight-line winds (downed trees, power lines, potential structural damage). - Localized flash flooding. - Hail and frequent lightning. - Low, but non-zero tornado risk. The greatest risk remains across western and central Massachusetts and western Connecticut Saturday afternoon and evening. Storms are still expected to weaken as they move into Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts after sunset.
