Good afternoon everyone Attached is our latest briefing package on the upcoming Weather Hazards. We will have an updated briefing package sent by 6 AM Saturday morning with the focus shifting to the late Sunday night and Monday Storm. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for late Sunday night and Monday for the Berkshires and Northern Worcester Hills. We are also growing concerned for the potential of damaging wind gusts near the coast and minor to moderate coastal flooding during the Monday morning high tide cycle. Thank You! Good afternoon everyone, After a mild and quiet few days today and Thursday we are expecting several winter weather hazards to impact southern New England over the next 5 days. First will be a coastal storm which brings several potentially hazardous conditions: 1) rain changing to snow for portions of eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island 2) strong, potentially damaging winds Friday and Friday night 3) a surge of arctic air which will bring the dangerous wind chills as well as a potential flash freeze for areas that saw wet weather. Finally, we're keeping an eye on a storm system Sunday night and Monday which may bring rain or snow to the region. Good morning everyone, Attached is an updated 1 page briefing regarding the freezing rain threat for today. Since the last update we've expanded the winter weather advisory to include Windham, northwest Providence, central Middlesex (MA), and western Essex counties. A trace of freezing rain and light icing will be possible over these areas between 7 and 10 am. Please see the one page briefing and attached graphics for further information. We've also included updated forecasts for minimum wind chill temperatures on Monday and Tuesday nights. This will be the final briefing for the freezing rain threat unless any significant changes arise. We will provide additional updates on the expected extreme cold early this week as new information becomes available. Good morning, A winter weather advisory has been issued for portions of western MA and and CT due to expected freezing rain tomorrow morning into tomorrow afternoon. Ice accumulations are generally expected to be less than 0.1 inches with the exception of isolated amounts up to 0.1 inches in Berkshire county. Additional details can be found in the attached one page briefing. We've also attached an animation that estimates the timing and location of precipitation type. Beyond tomorrow we're expecting potentially dangerously cold wind chill temperatures both Monday and Tuesday nights. Forecast graphics for minimum wind chill temperatures are attached as well.
