Good Afternoon, We have quite an active pattern this weekend into early next week with the potential for 2 winter storms impacting southern New England. The first storm will be late Friday night into Saturday with the potential for several inches snow accumulation. The second and stronger storm is expected late Sunday into Monday, but there is considerable uncertainty with the storm track. Details below. *Friday night into Saturday...* *What/Where/When:* - Potential snowfall of 3 to 6 inches. - Heaviest snowfall expected across interior RI/SE MA - Snow develops near the south coast after midnight Friday night reaching northern MA toward daybreak Saturday - A brief period of heavy snow with 1-2 inch/hr snowfall rates possible Sat morning across eastern New Eng - Hazardous travel conditions with snow covered roads and poor visibility late Friday night and Saturday morning - Snowfall will be wet and heavy so risk for power outages will increase if amounts reach 6 inches - Some mixing with rain or sleet possible near the immediate south coast and Cape/Islands Saturday - Snow gradually tapers off during Saturday afternoon *Uncertainty:* - Axis of heaviest snowfall can still change and it is possible max snowfall amounts could exceed 6 inches in some locations. - If storm track trends further north, heavier snowfall will shift further in the interior with more rain near the coast. Good afternoon everyone Not too many changes from the previous thinking. We will attach images of our Winter Weather Headlines along with our latest snowfall forecast and included a brief outline below. - Areas of light snow develop through 5 or 6 pm in western MA, resulting in slippery travel for part of the evening commute especially near the Berkshires. - Light snow overspreads the rest of the region between 5 and 8 pm from west to east. - Steadiest snow occurs between 10 pm and 4 am, but snowfall rates will generally be less than 1 inch per hour. - Snow ends between 4 am and 7 am Thursday in most locations, but some light snow may linger through 9 or 10 am along the eastern MA coast. - Snow Accumulations of 2-4” for many, but it is possible that areas from near Hartford CT to coastal RI only receive an inch or two. A heavier band of 3-6” of snow is possible roughly 20 miles north or south of the MA Turnpike. This includes the Berks as well as the Boston to Worcester metro areas. - Although the snow will be over in most locales by the Thursday am rush hour, cold temperatures will result in some roads being snow covered/slippery for the morning commute. - This will be a dry snow event even along the coast. Late Morning Snowfall Update With Arrival Times

Good morning everyone The overall forecast remains on track, but we wanted to just give a brief update based on some of the latest data we are currently reviewing. The first image we are attaching indicates a snowfall forecast from one of our more reliable computer models. While it is not meant to be taken verbatim our thinking is that it has the correct idea. A swath of 3 to 6 inches of snow appears reasonable within 20 miles north or south of the MA turnpike, including the Berkshires as well as the greater Worcester and Boston metro areas. Areas near the NH border and particularly from near Hartford, CT to the south coast of RI may end up more in the 1 to 4 inch range. In addition, we also have attached a loop indicating the approximate arrival and ending times of the snow. The general theme is that the steady light snow will arrive in most locations between 4 and 8 pm this evening. While snowfall rates should be light during this time, some roads may become coated with snow for the evening commute with the highest risk in western MA. The heaviest snow still looks to occur from 10 pm to 4 am, but snowfall rates will generally remain under 1 inch per hour. The snow wraps up in most areas in time for the Thursday morning rush hour, except along the eastern MA coast where it may linger a few hours longer. Nonetheless, untreated roads will be snow covered and slippery for the Thursday morning commute. We will have a full briefing package out later this afternoon. Good morning, A plowable snow remains in the forecast beginning late this afternoon and continuing through the early morning hours on Thursday. Please see the attached images which highlight the details. *What has changed ...* - *WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY* expanded to include all of Massachusetts. *What / Where / When ...* - Light snow will spread across all of Southern New England. - Beginning late this afternoon into evening for the CT River Valley, 5 to 7 pm, spreading over the remainder of S New England, 7 to 9 pm. - Bulk of the snowfall occurring around 10 pm to 4 am Thursday with snowfall rates less than an inch per hour. - Snow tapering 4 am to 7 am Thursday, west to east. - Total snow accumulations around 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts. - Not ruling out amounts that could come close to warning-level criteria of 6-inches. - Greater confidence of higher amounts along and N of the MA-Pike. *Impacts ... * - *Hartford / Springfield / Worcester* *metro areas* ... will see snow develop into this evenings commute. - Any accumulations on roadways should be light, mainly a dusting ... bigger concern will be reduced visibility. - *Boston / Providence metro areas* ... will see snow lingering during the early morning commute on Thursday before ending. - Slick surfaces with any untreated roads in addition to reduced visibility. - With any snow ... and given temperatures will be around 20 degrees, upper teens for most areas throughout the event. - Snow will accumulate on all surfaces. - A light and fluffy snow, with snowfall rates less than an inch per hour, should make for easy and quick clean-up. - However treatments may have difficulty working given cold temperatures forecast overnight. - Expect reductions in visibility and hazardous travel conditions. Plowable Snowfall Expected Wednesday Night Into Early Thursday Morning

Good afternoon everyone A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for western MA as well as areas along and south of the MA turnpike Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning. A briefing has been attached to this email along with a few graphics. These include late tonight into mid morning Wednesday Wind Chills, approximate start/stop times of the snow, current winter weather headlines, as well as expected snowfall amounts. *Wind Chills:* - A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect for the East Slopes of the Berkshires and Northern Worcester County late tonight into mid morning Wednesday. - Wind Chills overnight into Wednesday morning will drop to between 10 and 15 below zero. *Accumulating Snow Wednesday Evening into early Thursday morning:* *What/Where:* - Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches expected across most of southern New England. - A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for western MA and areas along and south of the MA turnpike, where the greatest potential exists for reaching the higher amounts exists. *When:* *- *Light snow will overspread western MA/northern CT including the Hartford and Springfield Metro areas between 5 and 7 pm Wednesday evening. Some slippery spots possible for the latter half of the evening commute, but snowfall rates will be rather light. - Light snow overspreads eastern MA and RI between 7 and 10 pm. - Bulk of the accumulating snow occurs between 11 pm and 4 am Thursday morning, but snowfall rates should generally remain less than 1 inch per hour. - Snow should pretty much end between 4 and 7 am Thursday morning from west to east. Light snow may linger through late Wednesday morning across eastern MA. - Despite heaviest snow being over by the Thursday morning rush hour, temperatures in the upper teens and lower 20s may result in untreated roads remaining snow covered and slippery. *Uncertainty/When We Will Know More:* *- *A general 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected across the region. Confidence in the higher amounts is across western MA and areas along and south of the MA Turnpike, but given this is 24 to 36 hours out this axis may shift. - Snowfall amounts are still subject to change. A weaker system would result in many areas receiving only an inch or two of snow, but on the flip side of the coin a stronger system would result in the potential for 3 to 6 inch amounts. - Confidence will increase in the forecast by early Wednesday morning. Good morning, Winds will continue to impact Southern New England through the afternoon but not as extreme as yesterday. A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for the East Slopes of the Berkshires and Northern Worcester County for late tonight and Wednesday morning. Another weather system will pass Southern New England Wednesday night and Thursday morning. This will bring a few inches of accumulating snow for late Wednesday into early Thursday. *WINDS:* - Gusts continue to reach 40-50 mph during the day. - Continued risk for downed trees/limbs, along with continued power outages. Winds may limit ability for utility companies to restore power. - The risk should be fully over by this evening. *Wind Chill:* - A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the East Slopes of the Berkshires and Northern Worcester County for tonight and Wednesday morning. This advisory area also includes Eastern Franklin County. - Wind Chills in this area tonight will reach 15 to 20 degrees below zero. *PLOWABLE SNOW LATE WED - THU:* *What:* - Light to moderate snowfall. - Snowfall rates generally below 1 inch/hour. - Total snowfall of 1-4 inches possible based on current forecast. - Some impacts to Wednesday evening and Thursday Morning commutes. *When:* - Snow overspreads from West-East between mid afternoon and evening Wednesday. - Snow continues Wednesday night. - Snow tapers off Thursday morning 5-7 AM CT and Western MA, 6-8 AM Central MA , 7-10 AM RI and Eastern MA. *Where:* - All of Southern New England - Highest totals in the East Slopes of the Berkshires. *Uncertainty/When We Will Know More:* - Snowfall amounts may change over the next 36 hours. - There is an equal risk for both higher, and lower snow totals. - We will continue to update over the next 36 hours. However, given that it will take until roughly afternoon Tuesday to fully drop off, impacts are likely to continue until then. We also want to give a heads up regarding snowfall, potentially plowable for late Wednesday into early Thursday. *WINDS:* - Gusts continue to reach 40-50 mph during the overnight hours, 35-45 mph during the day on Tuesday. - Continued risk for downed trees/limbs, along with continued power outages.
