Good morning, This is a correction to the email sent earlier. The message conveyed in the previous email remains the same, but the attached graphics indicating the percent chance of 2, 4, and 6 inches of snow are more up to date. We apologize for any confusion. The message from the previous email is as follows... *Good morning,* *Attached is a one page briefing and supporting graphics regarding a potential winter storm very late Thursday night into Friday morning. At this time we're expecting 3-6 inches of snow for eastern MA and RI and around 2-4 inches of snow for CT and the areas west of Worcester. Good morning, Attached is a one page briefing and supporting graphics regarding a potential winter storm very late Thursday night into Friday morning. At this time we're expecting 3-6 inches of snow for eastern MA and RI and around 2-4 inches of snow for CT and the areas west of Worcester. The graphics included are the chances of snow exceeding 2, 4, and 6 inches as well as the official forecast. Please note that the area highlighting 6-8 inches in the official forecast map is expected to be closer to 6 inches than 8 inches. [2022.01.04 PM UPDATE] NWS Boston EM Briefing - Light Icing Wed Morning; Potential Winter Storm Very Late Thursday Night into Friday

Good evening, We are sending an update to the briefing package sent at 130 PM Tuesday afternoon. This is to message a light icing event due to freezing rain and freezing drizzle with impacts to the Wednesday AM commute. We are also still monitoring the potential for a winter storm later Thursday night into Friday. *Light Icing To Impact Wednesday AM Commute* A period of light freezing rain or freezing drizzle is expected to begin early Wednesday morning. Slippery, icy roads are expected to cause impacts to the Wednesday morning commute for areas north and west of I-95. Temperatures are expected to warm above freezing by noon. Attached is a one page briefing & a graphic which includes the Winter Weather Advisory area. Unless there are significant changes to the forecast, *this will be the final briefing regarding this light icing event.* *Potential Winter Storm Late Thursday Night into Friday* We continue to monitor the potential for a winter storm to bring accumulating snow to Southern New England. No significant changes to what was briefed at 130 PM Tuesday have been made with this update. Good morning everyone, The following headlines were issued overnight for accumulating snow this afternoon & early evening, including minor coastal flooding - - A *Winter Storm Warning* for Nantucket - 4 to 7 inches of snow likely - A *Winter Weather Advisory* for Cape Cod, Marthas Vineyard and Block Island - 2 to 5 inches of snow likely - A *Coastal Flood Advisory* for the entire eastern MA coastline, from the NH/MA border to Nantucket - for the late morning into midday high tide cycle. Please see our coastal flood threat display here <https://www.weather.gov/box/coastal?sid=BOX&zoomLevel=8&centerLat=42.173581…> for additional details - *What we know* - accumulating snow will overspread the Islands and Cape Cod this afternoon and early evening. Heaviest snow with hourly rates of up to one inch are likely late this afternoon & early evening. Roads will become snow covered and slippery. - *What we don't know* - still some uncertainty on the exact northern extent of the accumulating snow. As of now, that line appears to be located somewhere along the immediate south coast. However, a small shift in storm track will have a large impact on snowfall totals from south to north. Therefore, this forecast may need to be updated later this morning. There is still uncertainty in the exact track of the system, so higher snowfall totals cannot be ruled out in the future updates if the system tracks closer to the coast. Accumulating Snow Possible Monday Cape Cod & Islands

Good morning all, There is the potential for accumulating snow Monday across Cape Cod and the Islands. Preliminary snowfall projections are for 1 to 3 inches, with heavier snow expected to remain just offshore. However, if the system tracks closer to the coast, higher snow totals would be possible. Conversely, if the system tracks farther offshore, less snow would occur. It's just too early to say for certain. Therefore, stay tuned to later forecasts and discussions, as this forecast can change.
