Good afternoon everyone, No major adjustments with our latest update. The Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories remain the same. The same is true for the Gale Warnings. Still mainly snow across the higher terrain. Elsewhere, mixed precipitation changes over to snow late tonight into Monday. The only exception is across the Cape/Islands where we change over to snow on Monday. We've attached a model simulated loop to give a rough idea on when the transition over to snow occurs, and when precipitation ends. Good morning everyone Not too many changes have been made to the going forecast. Greatest impacts today will be across the higher terrain where temps will be a few degrees colder allowing for snow to accumulate more efficiently. In the lower elevations, some snow accumulations are possible today if precipitation falls heavy enough to change mixed precipitation to a period of all snow. A lull in the activity this evening with much of the precipitation being in the form of rain except for the high terrain. Colder air moves back into the region late tonight into Monday AM...which will allow mixed precipitation to change back to all snow and continue into Monday. This is especially true across central and eastern Massachusetts. The Monday morning commute will be impacted. Winter Storm Warnings are posted for the high terrain of the northern Berkshires and the northern Worcester Hills for total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches through Monday. Across the lower elevations, mixed precipitation will keep snow accumulations generally in the 1 to 4 inch range through Monday. Good afternoon, Following is an initial one-page weather briefing and supporting graphics regarding a coastal storm that has the potential to bring accumulating snowfall to Southern New England Sunday into Monday. Winter Storm Watches have been issued for Sunday into Monday for the Berkshires, northern Worcester County and northwest Middlesex Counties. As mentioned in a previous e-mail sent this afternoon, mainly snow is expected for the duration in the higher elevations and the greatest potential for highest snow accumulations are currently anticipated here. In the lower elevations and along the coastal plain, due to borderline temperatures and onshore winds, rain may mix in with the snow before changing over to snow as colder air returns southward. Snow accumulations are subject to further adjustment, particularly in the lower elevations due to the two above factors. Given those two sources of uncertainty - we are including the latest official snow forecast but also a reasonable worst-case snow accumulation. This provides an idea of the kind of accumulations we could see if colder air supporting a changeover from rain to snow happens sooner. We do expect impacts to travel Sunday into Monday in the higher terrain, and mainly Sunday night and Monday as rain changes over to snow for the lower elevations. Impacts to the Monday commutes are anticipated. Attached graphics include a one-page briefing, our current official snow forecast, the reasonable worst-case accumulation, and the active winter weather headlines in effect. [2024.01.26 Early PM] Update on Accumulating Snow Potential Late Sunday into Monday

Good afternoon, With it being later on Friday, we wanted to send a short e-mail regarding our latest expectations for a storm system that has the potential to bring accumulating snows to Southern New England later Sunday into part of Monday. We expect this storm system to feature mainly snow for the interior and higher terrain, while lower elevations such as the coastal plain may feature a rain/snow mix before changing over to snow. Overall this event looks roughly similar to those winter weather events we've had to this point in the winter - where the higher snow accumulations are expected to have a significant elevational component. In lower elevations, snow amounts are more uncertain due to temperatures being more borderline. We are still in the process of finalizing the forecast and details, but we are considering Winter Storm Watches for the Berkshires, along with portions of Worcester and Middlesex Counties where the best potential for snow amounts of 6 or more inches exists. With that said, some adverse impact to the Monday morning commute - even in lower elevations - looks reasonable. Good morning everyone The threat for freezing rain has diminished across much of the high terrain this morning with temperatures generally above freezing. There still could be some very localized light icing in the highest terrain of the northern Berkshires...mainly above 1500 feet where a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect. There may actually be a better chance for pockets of light freezing drizzle/black ice across the high terrain of Massachusetts later tonight into early Saturday morning as temperatures are expected to be a few degrees colder. Otherwise, the main concern continues to be the expected coastal storm bringing the potential for rain to change to accumulating snow Sunday into early Monday. Greatest risk for a plowable snowfall will be in the higher terrain where temperatures will be colder. Across the rest of the region, snow accumulations are highly uncertain and will depend upon how quickly rain changes to snow and exact temperatures. NWS Boston EM Briefing: Potential RI Flooding Thu and Fri

Good afternoon all, Here is an updated briefing on potential river flooding in Rhode Island. There have been no significant changes to the forecast. A Flood Watch continues for Rhode Island (except Block Island) Thursday night into Friday. We are mainly concerned about the possibility of the Pawtuxet River reaching its moderate flood stage sometime Friday into Saturday. The Wood River may also crest in minor flood early Friday. Note that we *do not* expect flooding to be as significant as it was earlier this month. Homes and businesses could be impacted in low lying sections of Warwick, West Warwick and Cranston. In addition to the one page briefing, we have attached river level probabilities for the Pawtuxet River and Wood River. Thanks.
