Good Morning. Confidence continues to grow in a period of freezing rain tonight, moving into southern New England between 7-10pm, and changing over to rain from south to north between midnight and 4am. Ice accretion will be highest in the northern CT river valley with up to a quarter inch of ice is possible. Elsewhere, we are generally expecting anywhere from a trace to a tenth of an inch of ice. A Winter Weather Advisory has been expanded to include the Northshore, Boston, and western Kent County RI. There is still uncertainty on if temperatures will be sub-freezing around the south shore tonight when precip arrives. Advisories could be expanded south this afternoon if confidence in freezing rain increases today. Icy roads and sidewalks will be the main hazard, with impacts to the Monday morning commute possible. However the potential for tree and powerline damage will also exist in portions of the CT River and Merrimack Valleys, where ice accretions look to be more significant and coinciding with where leftover snow from the recent snowstorm is still clinging to trees and powerlines. Good afternoon, A storm system passing to our west Sunday night will produce a period of freezing rain mainly across interior Southern New England to Interstate 95 before gradually changing over to rain Monday morning. Icy roads and sidewalks will be the main hazard, with impacts to the Monday morning commute. However the potential for tree and powerline damage will also exist in portions of the CT River and Merrimack Valleys, where ice accretions look to be more significant and coinciding with where leftover snow from the recent snowstorm is still clinging to trees and powerlines. A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for a large part of interior Southern New England where confidence is greatest in icing accumulations. This may need to be expanded eastward into the Boston to Providence corridor in later updates. Good afternoon, Please find attached a one-page briefing with the latest update on the clipper system forecast to bring accumulating snow to most of southern New England tonight into tomorrow morning. *Current Confidence* We have moderate to high confidence in the following snowfall totals: - 4–8 inches across western MA/CT - 3–6 inches for central MA, eastern CT, and southern Rhode Island (RI). Confidence is lower across east/southeast MA, but 2–4 inches of accumulating snow is expected in those locations as well. Ocean effect enhancements may boost snow totals up to 4-6" for portions of The South Shore in MA, but confidence in where these enhancements will occur is low. *What Has Changed* - A *Winter Storm Warning* has been issued for western Hampden County in MA and Hartford County in CT. - *Winter Weather Advisories* have been expanded eastward to include Providence County in RI and Bristol and Plymouth Counties in MA. *Timing* The timing remains unchanged: - Snow moves into western MA/CT between 7:00 PM–9:00 PM. - Snow reaches eastern MA between 10:00 PM–midnight. - Snow ends between 4:00 AM–7:00 AM tomorrow morning, with lingering flurries until mid-morning over the east coast. *Post-Event Outlook* Drier conditions are expected late Saturday into Sunday.* We wanted to raise awareness of another system that may bring a threat of freezing rain late Sunday evening into early Monday morning, mainly across interior southern New England.* The attached image highlights the areas with the greatest potential for freezing rain. Good Morning and Merry Christmas, We are tracking a storm system that could bring plowable snow to the region starting Friday night into Saturday morning. Uncertainty at this time remains high, but the best chance for 3+ inches of snow are in southwest Connecticut, including the Hartford metro area. Attached are the chances of 3 and 6 inches of snow across Southern New England ending 1 pm Saturday. Over the coming days, we will be watching this system's track very closely, as any movement to the north could bring significant accumulations to the region. Good afternoon everyone Wanted to provide an update for Tuesday's light snow event. We still anticipate a general 1-3 inches for most of the region except for isolated totals up to 4 inches in the higher terrain. The main points of uncertainty are the start and end times of snow. Most likely start time will be early to mid morning Tuesday from west to east. Some snow showers may linger into Tuesday night and Wednesday morning especially across Eastern Massachusetts. Good afternoon everyone... We just wanted to give a heads up on the likelihood of a minor accumulating snowfall for Tuesday given it is one of the biggest travel days of the year. Preliminary indications are for the potential of 1-3" of snow with the greatest risk across interior southern New England with perhaps some localized 4" amounts in the high terrain. The snow may mix with or change to rain near and southeast of I-95 Tuesday afternoon. These are just some preliminary snowfall amounts that are subject to change, but again given Tuesday is a very big travel day wanted to acknowledge this potential. Good afternoon everyone... We just wanted to give one final update in regards to the damaging southerly winds today. The good news is the strongest of the winds will be exiting the coastline by 3 pm. While there will be a bit of a lull in the winds late this afternoon...they will pick back up from a westerly direction behind the cold front early this evening. While these winds will not be as strong as what we experienced this afternoon...Wind Advisories are posted through tonight for westerly wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph. A few brief gusts near 60 mph can not be ruled out in the high terrain of the Berkshires and the Worcester Hills. This will be the last email issued on this event. Thank You!
