Good morning everyone, We wanted to give you an early heads up that we're monitoring some potential for an early season stretch of 90+F temperatures this coming Wednesday and Thursday. We also expect it to be rather humid, especially on Thursday when the peak of the heat is most likely. I've attached the Probability of seeing 90+ for both Wed and Thu, as well as the NWS Heat Risk <https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/heatrisk/> for each day. Good morning, Following is an update regarding the potential for severe thunderstorms in portions of Southern New England this afternoon. We do want to mention that an initial round of widely scattered thunderstorms could develop during the morning hours, approximately 9 AM to noontime. These storms, if they develop, are not expected to rise to the level of producing severe weather, although lightning and passing heavy downpours are still possible. The greatest potential for severe thunderstorms today is this afternoon to early evening, between 2-8 PM, and largely confined to central and western Massachusetts and portions of northern Connecticut. All severe weather hazards are possible in severe thunderstorms today, including damaging straight line winds, large hail, and a low chance for a tornado. Because of the cloud cover around, the risk for severe weather this afternoon in eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island is low, but we'll be closely monitoring for any changes. Expect this to be the last weather briefing, unless there are significant changes which would warrant otherwise. Thank You! Good afternoon, Here is the latest briefing for potential severe weather over the next day and a half. There remains a chance for an isolated thunderstorm or two this evening across far western Massachusetts but the main concern for severe weather is Saturday. Confidence in the area that is most likely to see severe weather on Saturday has increased since the last update. While most of southern New England will have a chance to see severe storms, the highest risk will be across western areas of Massachusetts and Connecticut. There may be an initial round of storms Saturday morning, but these are expected to remain below severe limits. The main risk for scattered severe storms arrives later in the day with the potential for thunderstorm activity anytime between 2 and 10pm. Confidence in the severe weather potential and timing for Saturday is rated as moderate - as cloud cover and possible showers/embedded thundershowers early in the morning could affect the afternoon severe weather risk. Good morning, Following is an update to the weather briefing sent yesterday outlining the potential for strong thunderstorms today and Saturday. For today, the main risk area for thunderstorms lies across western Massachusetts and Connecticut mainly after 3 PM til sunset. It is possible that one or two could approach severe limits, but the majority of storms would not likely reach these levels. Confidence in the thunderstorm location and timing for today is rated as moderate to high, but is low on the chance of a storm or two becoming severe. Saturday is still the day we are most concerned for regarding the potential for severe weather, and while there is a threat for severe storms in most of Southern New England, the threat is slightly greater in western Massachusetts and Connecticut between noon and 9 PM. Confidence in the severe weather potential and timing for Saturday is rated as moderate - as cloud cover and possible showers/embedded thundershowers early in the morning could affect the afternoon severe weather risk. Good afternoon everyone, We wanted to give you a heads up about a few chances for strong to severe storms over the next few days. The main day of concern is Saturday, when a round of storms is expected to move through southern New England in the afternoon and evening. The main threat from these storms will be damaging winds and large hail, but a tornado is possible, mainly for the western interior. Good morning. The Flood Watch remains in effect from 5am Today through 8am Saturday and was expanded east into Worcester and Windham Counties. No major changes to the forecast since last night with 1.5 to 3.0 inches of rain expected today. Rain is expected to bring a renewed threat for river flooding along much of the CT river, with several points expected to reach minor flood, with moderate flood levels possible. Moderate to heavy rain will likely align with the evening commute and may cause travel issues with minor street flooding possible.
