Good morning, We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to provide you with an update on the ongoing storm affecting our region. Firstly, the coastal flood advisory for Narragansett Bay has been lifted ahead of schedule, as peak gusts arrived before the morning high tide cycle. Consequently, there is no longer a coastal flood threat in the area. Wind advisories have also been rescinded for southern Rhode Island and portions of southeast Massachusetts. However, a High Wind Warning remains in effect for Cape Cod and neighboring islands until 10 am. While a Flood Watch is still in effect, it is anticipated to be lifted later this morning or early afternoon. We will be closely monitoring main stem river flooding from this afternoon through midweek and will issue River Flood Warnings as needed. The weather is expected to trend dry this afternoon with clearing skies into the overnight hours. Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s and low 30s overnight, accompanied by a brisk WNW wind with gusts of 25 to 35 mph early on, diminishing by sunrise on Tuesday. Good Afternoon, We are closely evaluating the expected development of a strong storm system that will impact southern New England late Sunday into Monday -- with increasing probability that it will produce a period of strong wind gusts of 45-60 mph, locally heavy rainfall and perhaps some minor coastal flooding. More information is provided in the 1-Pager briefing that is attached, and we will be working to determine more of the details in the coming couple of days. Also attached to this email are two separate images. 1) Current probability of wind gusts exceeding 45 mph. The point probability values are plotted on the map, though the yellow and orange shaded areas denote where the current chances of seeing those strong wind gusts are above 50%. 2) A snapshot from our Ensemble River Forecast <https://www.weather.gov/erh/mmefs>system. Of note are the locations with orange circles which represent a 30% chance of a river reaching minor flood stage. These outlooks will likely change in the coming days as the rainfall forecasts from computer models converge on a most likely outcome. Thought this link would be helpful for some of you. Good afternoon, Following is an update to the weather briefing sent this morning addressing the potential for gusty winds, heavy rain and minor coastal flooding late tonight into Monday morning. The only significant change was that the potential for wind gusts up to 50 mph have increased in eastern Essex County in Massachusetts. This has prompted adding eastern Essex County to the Wind Advisory area. Sporadic instances of tree damage are anticipated due to forecast wind gusts. Otherwise there has been no significant changes from what was briefed this morning regarding rain and coastal flooding potential. Unless there are significant changes that would necessitate otherwise, this will be the final briefing on this weather situation. Thank You! Good morning, Please find a briefing attached regarding the potential for gusty winds, heavy rain, and minor coastal flooding between *midnight tonight and 8am Monday*. There has been a significant shift in the forecast which has prompted headlines to be hoisted as low pressure rapidly strengthens off the coast overnight. Up to 2" of rain is possible over a three to six hour period early Monday morning across Rhode Islands and southeast Massachusetts which may lead to urban and poor drainage flooding, especially in the Providence metro area; a few rumbles of thunder are also possible. Given the lack of rain the region has received as of late and the quick moving nature of this storm, flooding is not expected to be widespread, thus, there is* no* flood watch in place. A wind advisory is now in place for Cape Cod and the Islands from 1 AM to 7AM. Southeast gusts around 50mph are expected. The southeast wind direction has the potential to cause minor splashover/coastal flooding in Narragansett Bay around the morning high tide, prompting the issuance of a Coastal Flood Statement for Monday morning. Note that minor shifts in the timing of tonight's system (ie. earlier or later) could eliminate or heighten this threat. Good morning, Snow has come to an end across interior southern New England with the primary concern today remaining gusty winds along the coast, and more specifically, across the Cape and Islands. The Wind Advisory that was in place for the Cape and Islands, as well as Cape Ann, has been expanded to include much of coastal MA and portions of coastal RI. Winds will gust in excess of 40mph in the advisory area, with the threat for 55mph gusts highest on Nantucket.
