Good morning everyone The only real change with this forecast update was to shift the main severe weather threat west of our region this evening. However, an isolated severe thunderstorm or two can not be ruled out across western MA/western CT roughly between 5 and 11 pm this evening. The main threat would be isolated damaging wind gusts. Otherwise, Heat Advisories continue for most of the region away from the immediate coast today and Friday. The heat peaks today with heat indices near 100 this afternoon, but still expect those values to reach into the middle 90s on Friday. Attached is a graphic indicating the main risk of severe weather will be to our west, but an isolated severe storm or two can not be ruled out. Good morning everyone No changes to the overall forecast were made this morning. Heat Advisories continue for most of the region away from the immediate coast Today and Thursday, but heat headlines will likely need to be extended into Friday. The peak of the heat and humidity will be on Thursday when Heat Indices may top out around 100 degrees across portions of the region. Attached are the expected Heat Indices today, Thursday and Friday. We also included a graphic depicting the current Heat Advisory that is in effect through Thursday, but will probably need to be extended into Friday in future updates. Thank You! Good morning everyone Heat Advisories have been extended through Thursday for the Lower Connecticut River Valley. Heat Indices of 95+ are expected this afternoon, Wednesday and Thursday. The heat and humidity looks to peak on Thursday...when many locations may see afternoon heat indices reach the middle to upper 90s. It is possible that a few locations may see Heat Index Values approach the middle 90s Friday afternoon. We have attached the expected maximum afternoon Heat Indices for today, Wednesday and Thursday. Good morning, Happy Labor Day. We wanted to provide you with the latest weather update for Southern New England. We expect summer heat and humidity will persist through midweek. The warming trend has already begun today, and we anticipate heat indices in the upper 80s to lower 90s today. As we move into tomorrow through Thursday, we expect even hotter weather with heat indices in the lower to possibly middle 90s. It's important to note that the highest heat indices will be away from the southern and eastern coasts, specifically for the urban centers of the Connecticut River Valley. While we're increasingly confident that heat index values will approach Heat Advisory levels, there's still some uncertainty regarding the exact values. As of now, no heat-related headlines are active, but it's possible that Heat Advisories may become needed in the next day or two for certain areas in Southern New England. Good morning, Following is an update on the continued expectation of summerlike heat and humidity expected to develop over most of Southern New England early to mid this week. Warming trend to temperatures begins today, with heat indices in the upper 80s to lower 90s today and Monday. We expect even warmer weather to develop by Tuesday and continue into Wednesday, with mid to possibly upper 90s heat indices both days. The highest heat indices are expected away from the southern and eastern coasts. While confidence continues to grow on heat index values at least approaching Heat Advisory levels, there is still a level of uncertainty on the exact heat index values. Thus there are no heat-related headlines currently active, however Heat Advisories may be needed in the next day or two for portions of Southern New England. Good morning, We wanted to provide you with an update on the weather forecast, especially for the upcoming week. As mentioned in our previous email, it appears that we are in for a return of summertime heat in the early to mid-part of next week. While there hasn't been significant change in the forecast, our confidence in this is increasing. Afternoon temperatures are expected to climb back into the middle and upper 80s, with isolated areas possibly reaching the lower 90s. Alongside this, we anticipate rising dewpoint temperatures and elevated relative humidity levels, which will make it feel like temperatures are in the low to mid-90s on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We kindly request that you continue to monitor your emails over the weekend for any further updates. While no official advisories have been issued at this time, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that a Heat Advisory may become necessary for select areas of southern New England. Attached below, you will find the maximum heat index forecast, indicating the highest expected heat index values. For your reference, here are the criteria for a Heat Advisory: - Daytime heat indices of 95°F to 99°F for two or more hours over two consecutive days, or - 100°F to 104°F for two or more hours over one day. We will issue another update email by 5:00 AM on Sunday to keep you informed about any developments.
