Good afternoon, A strong storm continues to impact the region today. This is already bringing damaging winds and will continue to do so. In addition, isolated thunderstorms and heavy downpours are expected. This may lead to some urban flooding potential. *Changes in the latest update:* Decreased maximum wind gusts north and west of Worcester. Otherwise the forecast remains on track. The graphics attached below are the maximum wind gusts expected and the storm total precipitation. *Headlines:* - *High Wind Warning *for all of southern New England except Franklin County Massachusetts until early tonight. - *Wind Advisory* for Franklin County Massachusetts from until early tonight. - *Storm Warning *in effect for the ocean waters into this evening. *Damaging Winds:* - Wind gusts of 55-70 mph out of the south. Period of peak gusts roughly from 3-6 PM. - Highest speeds expected across the South Coast, Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts. *Heavy Rain:* - Storm total rainfall of 1-2 inches. Good morning everyone, Here are our latest thoughts on the potential for damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours today leading to some urban flooding potential. The greatest time of concern is late this morning into early evening. *Changes since the last update:* - Increased emphasis on chance for urban and poor drainage flooding in heavy downpours. Some small streams may approach Action Stage. - Added a Coastal Flood Statement for upper parts of Narragansett Bay including the city of Providence for the low risk of minor coastal flooding during today's mid day high tide *Headlines:* - *High Wind Warning *for all of southern New England except Franklin County Massachusetts from midday until early tonight. - *Wind Advisory* for Franklin County Massachusetts from midday until early tonight. - *Storm Warning *in effect for the ocean waters from this morning into this evening - *Coastal Flood Statement *in effect for upper portions of Narragansett Bay for the mid day high tide *Damaging Winds:* Southerly wind gusts of 55 to 70 mph are possible late this morning through this evening, with sustained winds of 20-40 mph. The highest winds are expected across Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts including Cape Cod and the Islands, but damaging wind gusts are possible across all of southern New England. *Heavy Rain:* Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible from early Monday morning through Monday early Monday night. Isolated amounts up to 3 inches are possible, especially where where any thunderstorms move through. *Thunderstorms**:* There is a low risk of an isolated thunderstorm this afternoon and early tonight, mainly for western CT and MA. Some of these storms could become severe bringing damaging winds. *Impacts:* - Scattered to widespread power outages are possible due to downed trees, tree limbs and power lines. Greatest time of concern is late Monday morning into early Monday evening. Attached are graphics of the watches that have been issued, the maximum wind gusts and maximum wave heights expected on Monday. *Changes since the last update:* - High WInd Watches Issues for all of southern New England. - Concern increasing in the potential for damaging wind gusts and power outages. *Headlines:* - High Wind Watch for all of southern New England from Monday morning until Monday evening - Storm Watch in effect for the ocean waters from Monday morning into Monday evening *Details:* *Damaging Winds:* South wind gusts of 55 to 75 mph are possible late Monday morning through Monday evening. Greatest time of concern is late Monday morning into early Monday evening. The highest gusts are expected along the south coast, including Cape Cod and the Islands, but damaging wind gusts are possible across all of southern New England. *Heavy Rain:* Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible from late Sunday night through Monday. Locally higher amounts are possible where any thunderstorms move through. *Thunderstorms:* Thunderstorms will be possible ahead of a cold front Monday afternoon and early Monday night. If we end up on the lower end with mainly 50 to 60 mph wind gusts, we will have scattered power outages. High astronomical tides will pose a risk for pockets of minor coastal flooding around the time of high tide, especially at the typically more vulnerable locations. Gusty west winds are likely behind a departing low pressure this evening. A *Wind Advisory* has been posted for all of Southern New England from 4 PM to 9 PM for west winds which could gust up to 50 mph. *Gale warnings* are posted for most of the southern New England coastal waters late tonight through Friday. Good afternoon, all. No significant changes with respect to the coastal flood threat tonight into Friday. High astronomical tides will pose a risk for pockets of minor coastal flooding around the time of high tides during this time, especially at the typically more vulnerable locations. We may need to extend some Coastal Flood Advisories for the late Friday evening high tide, but confidence is not yet high enough to do so. Gale warnings posted for most of the southern New England coastal waters late Thursday through Friday. There is a possibility for gusty west winds behind a departing low pressure Thursday evening into Friday. Wind Advisories may be issued with later forecasts for gusts of 45 mph or greater. Confidence in gusty winds is high, but only moderate confidence for speeds 45 mph or greater. Please let is know if you require any additional weather information.
