Good Morning Everyone, A prolonged period of heat and humidity is likely Saturday through Tuesday. The worst of the heat and humidity is expected on Sunday and Monday when heat advisories will likely be needed, especially in the Connecticut Valley and portions of eastern Massachusetts into Rhode Island. Heat indices will reach mid/upper 90s Sunday, peaking around 100 degrees Monday. Low temperatures overnight will be in the 70s. Good Afternoon Everyone, We are becoming more confident in the potential for hot and humid weather Saturday through Tuesday. Right now Sunday and Monday appear to be the hottest days. Heat Advisories will likely be needed for heat indices between 95 and 100 degrees, especially in the Connecticut Valley and from the Merrimack Valley to the western suburbs of Boston. Good evening, The following changes have been made to the forecast: *- Flash Flood Watches have been cancelled *for the entire Southern New England except for Berkshire county in Massachusetts and Litchfield county in Connecticut. Latest radar imagery and high-resolution model guidance show bands of scattered showers overnight with brief heavy rainfall from remnants of Tropical Storm Fay. However, widespread flash flooding is not expected given the scattered nature of the showers. Good afternoon everyone, Tropical Storm Fay is forecast to track north and pass over western Long Island and western Connecticut Saturday morning. The main concern across southern New England is the potential for flash flooding from heavy rain tonight into early Saturday in western MA and CT. Key points with the main threats from Fay: *Flash Flooding:* Most confident in the potential for heavy rainfall tonight into Saturday morning in western MA and CT. Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is likely with locally higher amounts. Minor urban flooding is possible but more significant urban and small stream flooding is possible depending on where the heaviest rain falls. *Wind:* Tropical storm force winds should remain along the Connecticut coast and are anticipated to arrive this evening. Prevailing wind direction should be from the south or southeast. *Rip Currents:* There is a moderate to high risk of dangerous rip currents and high surf into early next week, especially on south facing, ocean exposed beaches. *Severe Weather:* - *Tonight into Early Saturday*: The overall severe weather threat is low, but isolated wind damage or a short lived tornado cannot be ruled out. - *Saturday afternoon into the evening:* Few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible with the best chance west of the CT River Valley. It is forecast to track north and pass over western Long Island and western Connecticut Saturday morning. *The main concern from Fay in southern New England is the potential for flash flooding from heavy rainfall Friday night into Saturday. * Here are the key points regarding the main threats from Fay: *Flash Flooding:* We are most confident in the potential for heavy rainfall Friday night into Saturday morning. Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is likely with locally higher amounts. Minor urban flooding is likely but more significant urban and small stream flooding is possible depending on where the heaviest rain falls. *Wind:* While it is more likely that sustained tropical storm force winds remain along the Connecticut coast, it is still possible that the track of Fay shifts east in later forecast, which could bring tropical storm force winds to the Rhode Island coast and adjacent waters. Prevailing wind direction should be from the south or southeast. *Rip Currents:* There is a moderate to high risk of rip currents Friday through Sunday on south coastal beaches. *Severe Weather:* There is the threat for an isolated severe thunderstorm, and with that a tornado is possible. NWS Boston Update: Weather Concerns for Friday/Saturday

Good Afternoon Everyone, We're sending a quick update to let you know little has changed from this morning's briefing. A complete update will be sent later this afternoon, probably closer to 4 PM. Here are the key points: *Track/Strength Uncertainty: High* It is unknown how the system will develop and where it will eventually track. This will have a big impact on who sees the heaviest rainfall. *Flash Flooding:* This continues to be our main concern from late Friday into Saturday. The latest information still supports rainfall of 1 to 2 inches on average with locally higher amounts. Minor urban flooding is expected and there is the potential for more significant urban and small stream flooding where the heavier rain falls. Minor rises are expected on the larger rivers but no flooding is forecast at this time. *Severe Weather:* There is the possibility of an isolated tornado Friday night. *Wind:* We are less confident in wind impacts due to high uncertainty as to how the system develops and eventually tracks. It’s quite possible stronger wind gusts (more than 30-40 mph) remain offshore southeast of Cape Cod and the Islands or don’t materialize at all. Prevailing direction of any of the stronger wind gusts should be from the south or southeast. *Seas:* We are also less confident in how much seas will build given uncertainty in the wind forecast. Highest seas approaching 10 feet may affect waters south and east of Cape Cod and the Islands. *Coastal Flooding:* We are highly confident that the threat is low on both coasts as tides are relatively low through the weekend. *Rip Currents:* We have low confidence due to uncertainty in the wind forecast, but there is the potential for moderate rip currents Friday and Saturday, possibly into Sunday, mainly at the south coastal beaches.
