Good afternoon everyone, Attached is a one-page briefing on Hurricane Isaias and its expected impacts on southern New England. Keep in mind forecast uncertainty is high in our region, since we are not sure whether or not Isaias will make landfall in Florida, brush the coast, or remain just offshore. NWS Boston EM Briefing: Hurricane Isaias

Good morning everyone, We are closely monitoring what is now Hurricane Isaias near the Bahamas. It is becoming increasingly likely that this storm will track up the east coast and impact southern New England early to mid next week. At this time, there is a great deal of uncertainty in both the track of the storm and how quickly it may move up the coast. Given that uncertainty, the specific impacts to our region are unknown at this time. The latest forecast from the National Hurricane center is attached, placing the storm in our vicinity around Tuesday. Again, this timing is subject to change with later forecasts. Details are below. *What: *Heat Advisory for heat indices of 95 to 104 *When & Where:* Today - All of southern New England except for the Berkshires, Franklin, western Hampshire and western Hampden counties, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and Block Island. *Wh**at: *Isolated severe thunderstorms *When & Where:* Mainly from 2 PM to 10 PM, but isolated storms could develop earlier - all of southern New England. Good afternoon. Little has changed since this morning's briefing. Another day of dangerous heat is expected Tuesday along with isolated severe thunderstorms. *What: *Heat Advisory for heat indices of 95 to 104 *Where & When:* - Tuesday - All of southern New England except for the Berkshires, Franklin, western Hampshire and western Hampden counties, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and Block Island. - The heat will be exacerbated by the duration of this event with record highs possible again Tuesday. In addition, record breaking warmth is possible tonight when minimum temperatures may only fall to 75 to 80 degrees in the urban centers including Boston and Hartford. Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible across southern New England on Tuesday as a cold front slides in. The time frame is from late morning into the afternoon. The main threats with any stronger storms are damaging winds and minor street flooding. Good morning, We are expecting a three day heat wave Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. *What: *Extreme heat *Where: *northern portions of CT/RI and most of MA including the cities of Boston, Springfield, Hartford and Providence. However on Monday the extreme heat will be most widespread, even impacting the high terrain and the entire coastline. *When:* Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The extreme heat will likely peak on Monday with highs 95 to 100. *Forecast Confidence:* forecast temperatures continue to trend warmer for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Thus forecast confidence is above average for high temperatures to exceed 90 degrees each of those days along with a low probability of a few locations nearing 100 Monday. *Impacts*:The heat will be exacerbated by minimum temperatures on Monday night only falling to 75 to 80 degrees in the urban centers including Boston. In addition, temperatures may reach or exceed record highs on all three days. Heat headlines will likely be issued later today. Good morning, We are expecting scattered strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon into evening. *What:* Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon into evening. *Threats:* Localized damaging winds, large hail and urban poor drainage flooding. *Timing:* Mainly 2 to 10 PM, although isolated storms could develop earlier. *Location:* All of Southern New England, but the highest probability of severe storms will be over Northern MA and Northern CT, including the cities of Boston and Hartford.
