Good afternoon everyone, Just wanted to provide a quick email update. The forecast remains on track. There is a little bit of a lull in the strong winds as of 12 to 1 PM, but we will see another surge of gusty winds between 4-7 PM of 40-60 mph gusts (graphic attached). The highest gusts are expected across eastern areas. Precipitation will taper off mid to late this afternoon ending as non accumulating snow. Ocean effect snow showers will persist across the south coast on Saturday and into Sunday with light accumulation. Good morning, we continue to monitor an impactful storm that will affect holiday travel from Friday into Saturday. Overall the forecast remains similar to the previous briefing. *What is new:* - *A High Wind Watch was issued for all of eastern Massachusetts from Friday through Saturday afternoon. *[image: High_Wind_Watch.png] - *Gale Watch and Storm Watch were issued for all waters from Friday through Saturday. *[image: Hazardous_Marine_Conditions.png] - *Rainfall is slightly higher, generally 1.5" to 2.5", with locally higher amounts. * As previously discussed, the main concerns include: - Damaging winds up to 65 MPH Friday from the south or southeast, and strong west/southwest winds up to 45 MPH Saturday, which could affect power restoration efforts. - Minor to Moderate coastal flooding along parts of both the east and south coasts during the Friday morning high tide, and for the south coast during the evening high tide. - Minor river flooding, especially along the mainstem Connecticut River. Minor flooding refers to flooding less than one foot deep and is primarily confined to low-lying areas. - Hazardous winds and seas for marine travel. Good Afternoon Everyone, We are monitoring the potential for an impactful storm that could affect holiday travel Friday into Saturday. Please see the attached one-page briefing for details. Concerns include: - Damaging winds up to 60 MPH Friday from the south or southeast, and strong west/southwest winds up to 45 MPH on Saturday which could affect power restoration efforts. - Moderate coastal flooding along parts of both the east and south coasts during the Friday morning high tide. Moderate flooding refers to flooding 1 to 3 feet deep in more vulnerable locations which could require road closures. - Minor river flooding, especially along the mainstem Connecticut River. Minor flooding refers to flooding less than one foot deep, and is primarily confined to low lying areas. - Hazardous winds and seas for marine travel. Additionally, much colder air is expected to follow Saturday and Christmas Day with wind chills in the single numbers and teens. We will provide our next update Tuesday afternoon. [2022.12.19 AM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Strong Storm System Late This Week

Good morning everyone, Given the holiday travel expected late this week, we wanted to provide an early heads up email about potential impacts to southern New England later this week. Here are the key points: 1. A period of strong to perhaps damaging southerly/southeasterly wind gusts depending on the strength of the system. 2. There could be a bit of snow/ice at the onset across the interior, but looks to be mainly a heavy rain event. 3. Very high astronomical tides in combination with strong winds may result in coastal flooding issues across south and east coast. Improving conditions should arrive Friday night into the holiday weekend. Another update with additional details or graphics may be sent by Monday afternoon or night.
