NWS Boston: Quick update for ongoing storm

All, We wanted to send you this quick update to primarily pass along that the event is following along fairly closely to our previous forecasts. The highest snow accumulations have been primarily across the higher elevations, especially above 1000-1500 feet. That snow will continue this evening into the early overnight hours. We have added the far northwest corner of Middlesex County MA to our Winter Weather Advisory since the highest elevation towns (Ashby and Townsend) will see several inches of snow this evening. Rain will continue elsewhere. Winds will be diminishing this evening. As the storm winds down well after midnight and during Saturday morning, a brief period of light snow is expected even at lower elevations, however no significant accumulation is expected. Attached to this email is a forecast map for what we expect for additional snowfall amounts from this afternoon through early Saturday afternoon. Friday Morning Storm Update

Good Morning Everyone, We just wanted to send a quick update to let you know the forecast is on track with regards to the higher elevation snowfall and wind/rain elsewhere. So far we're seeing reports of 5-9" of heavy, wet snow across the Berkshires. The heaviest snow will continue until around 1 pm in those areas. Good afternoon, There are no significant changes since the last briefing. A high impact winter storm is expected for elevations above 1000 ft in Massachusetts and Connecticut, late tonight and continuing Friday/Friday night, before tapering off early Saturday morning. Good morning everyone, A potential high impact winter storm for elevations at and above 1000 ft in Massachusetts and Connecticut, beginning late Thursday night, and continuing Friday/Friday night, before tapering off early Saturday morning. Good afternoon: A very complicated snowfall forecast across southern New England this afternoon. Significant precipitation is expected, some of which will be in the form of heavy, wet snow. Snow accumulations will be very elevation-dependent. This will mean sharp gradients between those that receive snowfall, and those that are mostly rain. With such marginal temperatures to support snowfall in the lower levels of the atmosphere, a small change to the temperatures could mean a large difference in snowfall. We will continue to monitor trends closely through this event. Also attached is a map with the latest winter weather headlines in effect. Good afternoon, Here is the latest briefing on a possible winter storm late this week. The details remain uncertain at this time frame, with more clarity coming over the next couple of days. The next briefing will be tomorrow afternoon, unless significant changes require an earlier briefing. The image in the briefing, and attached separately, is the probability of a moderate impact. The other attached image defines what is considered to be a "moderate" impact. Probabilities for "minor" impacts are higher, while those for a "major" impact are lower, at this time. Thank you. [2022.12.11 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Updated Snowfall Forecast Through Tonight

Good afternoon everyone Just wanted to let you know that we opted to expand the Winter Weather Advisory into south central Massachusetts as well as northern Rhode Island, which includes the Worcester and Providence metro areas. We are expecting 2 to 3 inches of snow in this region with localized amounts up to 4 inches through tonight. Otherwise, no significant changes to the early morning forecast. Snow has already arrived in western/central MA and Connecticut and should be moving into eastern MA & RI in the next 1-2 hours. Temperatures are below freezing and the snow will stick on untreated roadways resulting in slippery travel. Attached is our latest snowfall forecast along with a map depicting the Winter Weather Advisory. The accumulating snow is still expected to come to an end before the Monday morning rush hour and this will likely be the last email issued for this event. Thank You!
