The one pager has been updated, and we have added a map showing additional snow expected through midnight (though snow should end for everyone outside of Cape Cod/Nantucket by around 7PM). Good morning, Attached are two separate one-page briefings: - The first focuses on the dangerous cold tonight into Sunday morning - The second details snowfall today into this evening Changes since the last briefing: - Winter Storm Watch for Essex county was upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning. There is not much change to the snowfall forecast with generally 3 to 6 inches for the advisory area across central and eastern MA into Rhode Island, with locally up to 8 inches in northeast MA. The biggest challenge is pinpointing where the heavier snow bands will set up. Confidence is moderate and the axis of heavy snowfall could still shift. There have been no changes to the forecast for the extreme cold tonight into Sunday, in which we maintain high confidence. Good afternoon, Attached are two separate one-page briefings: - The first focuses on the snowfall late tonight through Saturday evening - The second details the dangerous cold expected Saturday night into Sunday morning. Regarding the snowfall forecast, our confidence has increased for higher snowfall amounts across eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for northeastern Massachusetts, where as much as 4–8 inches of snow are possible. Elsewhere, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for central and eastern Massachusetts; widespread totals of 2–4 inches are expected, with 4–6 inches possible along and east of the I-95 corridor. There have been no changes to the forecast for the extreme cold Saturday night into Sunday, in which we maintain high confidence. Good morning, Here is an updated briefing for the dangerously cold conditions Saturday night into Sunday, and the expected snowfall from Friday night into Saturday. Changes since the last briefing. - Extreme Cold Watches were upgraded to Extreme Cold Warnings for Central and western MA and northern CT - Cold Weather Advisories were issued for the rest of southern New England - Snowfall was increased across southern New England for Saturday with the highest snow accumulation across eastern MA We expect locally heavy snow bands to develop Saturday, especially across eastern MA in the afternoon but the exact placement of these bands is uncertain. Snow accumulation of 1 to 4 inches is expected across southern New England, with the heaviest amounts in eastern MA where localized accumulations up to 6 inches are possible. However, the axis of heaviest snowfall is uncertain and may shift. Winter Weather Advisories will likely be issued this afternoon for portions of southern New England. Thank you. Good afternoon, Please see the attached one-page briefing regarding the dangerously cold conditions expected from Saturday night into Sunday. Wind chill values are forecast to reach 15 to 30 degrees below zero, with wind gusts up to 40 mph. Due to these conditions, the Extreme Cold Watch has been expanded across all of western and central Massachusetts, extending south into northern Connecticut. Additionally, minor snowfall is expected to begin late Friday night and continue through Saturday evening. Most areas can expect accumulations ranging from a coating to 2 inches, with totals of 2 to 3 inches possible for eastern coastal areas. Parts of the outer Cape could see greater than 4 inches. Good morning, Please see the attached one page briefing regarding the dangerous cold expected Saturday night into Sunday. Wind chill values may fall between 15 and 30 below zero and wind gusts between 35 to 45 mph are expected to develop. Confidence continues to increase in these impacts, and an Extreme Cold Watch has been issued for the Berkshires. There is also a chance for light accumulating snow starting Friday night and lasting through Saturday night. Most can expect to see accumulations from a coating to 2", with totals between 2-3" for eastern coastal areas. Parts of the outer Cape could see up to 4". Good morning everyone... Just a quick update with the on-going storm. We opted to drop the Winter Weather Advisory for all areas except Nantucket. Scattered ocean effect snow showers will result in a coating to 2 inches of snow today across southeast New England. We did opt to leave the Winter Weather Advisory for Nantucket...where 1-2" of snow will combined with northerly wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph at times. We also did upgrade Nantucket to a High Wind Warning. Attached is our updated snowfall forecast for today as well as a graphic of our wind headlines including the maximum wind gust forecast.
