Good afternoon everyone, Winds will begin to very gradually diminish overnight. However, given that it will take until roughly afternoon Tuesday to fully drop off, impacts are likely to continue until then. We also want to give a heads up regarding snowfall, potentially plowable for late Wednesday into early Thursday. *WINDS:* - Gusts continue to reach 40-50 mph during the overnight hours, 35-45 mph during the day on Tuesday. - Continued risk for downed trees/limbs, along with continued power outages. Winds may limit ability for utility companies to restore power. - The risk should be fully over by Tuesday evening. *PLOWABLE SNOW LATE WED - THU:* *What:* - Light to moderate snowfall. - Snowfall rates generally below 1 inch/hour. - Total snowfall of 1-4 inches possible based on current forecast. - Some impacts to Wednesday evening and Thursday Morning commutes. *When:* - Snow overspreads from West-East between mid afternoon and evening. - Snow continues, especially across E MA and RI into mid day Thursday. *Where:* - All of Southern New England - Highest totals focused mainly south of the Mass Pike. *Uncertainty/When We Will Know More:* - Snowfall amounts will likely change over the next 48 hours. - There is an equal risk for both higher, and lower snow totals. - We will continue to update over the next 48 hours. Good afternoon everyone. Light snow has pushed into SW Connecticut this afternoon, which will shift eastward this evening. Please read the details below. *What has changed:* - No changes to the previous e-mail. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY remains in effect from 7 PM this evening until 7 AM Thursday. *WHAT: * - Minor snow and sleet accumulations followed by a period of freezing rain. *WHERE: * - All of southern New England. While most of the freezing rain will be confined to the interior, there will be a brief period of freezing rain along the immediate coast tonight. *WHEN:* - Snow will push across the Hartford/Springfield areas by 6 PM, which will impact the latter half of the evening commute. - In the Boston to Providence corridor, the snow will begin by about 7 to 8 PM. - Expect the snow to change to sleet then freezing rain from SW to NE between 9 PM and 1 AM. The change to rain along the coast and portions of northern RI and SE Massachusetts should occur between 3 AM and 6 AM. - Precipitation ends Thursday morning, but patchy freezing rain/drizzle may linger in the interior and impact the morning commute. Details below. *What has changed:* - The WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been expanded to all of southern New England except for the Cape and Islands from 7 PM Wednesday through 7 AM Thursday. *WHAT: * - Minor snow and sleet accumulations followed by a period of freezing rain. *WHERE: * - All of southern New England.
