[2021.12.11 AM] NWS Boston EM Briefing - Winter Weather Advisory this Morning/Strong Winds Today and Tonight

Good Morning, There will be a chance for freezing rain this morning across the northern portions of Worcester and Middlesex counties. This has prompted a winter weather advisory in effect from 5am to 9am for these areas. Impacts will be limited to slippery roads resulting in hazardous travel conditions. A graphic highlighting the area covered by the advisory is attached. Separate from the winter weather advisory this morning, we want to provide you with the latest update on the potential for strong winds today and tonight. Since the last update we have expanded the wind advisory to include all of southern New England. Still expecting wind gusts to top out around 50 mph with the strongest winds expected over The Berkshires, Cape, and Islands. More details can be found in the attached one page briefing. Good afternoon, Attached is an updated one page briefing and updated supporting images regarding strong winds forecast for tomorrow into tomorrow night, based on this afternoon's forecast update. Wind Advisories have been hoisted for Block Island, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, as well as Berkshire County. These are valid tomorrow afternoon into early Sunday morning. Good afternoon, We wanted to send a short update to the briefing sent this morning regarding the potential for strong wind gusts Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening. The latest guidance and trends reflect an increase in wind speed and wind gusts. While still in the *pre-decisional stage,* wind headlines are being considered for portions of southeast New England, including Cape Cod and the Islands. Despite the increase in speeds, only minor impact is currently envisioned. Attached are updated preliminary sustained wind speed and wind gust graphics (in MPH) based on the latest forecast trends. As the forecast is finalized, expect a full update to our briefing package which will be sent no later than 5 PM today. Thank You! We've also attached a graphic of the maximum wind gusts in MPH based on the latest forecast update. Since the last briefing we have raised a gale warning for the coastal waters that will go into effect at 7am Saturday morning. Confidence is increasing that we will need to raise wind headlines over land. This would likely happen in the next 12 to 24 hours as we iron out the fine details on the timing and areal extent of potentially damaging wind gusts. Aside from small changes in timing, the forecast remains generally unchanged from the prior briefing. We are still not confident enough yet to consider hoisting Wind Advisories, but may need to do so over the next 24 to 36 hrs for the South Coast, Cape Cod and the Islands. Good morning, There have been no significant changes in the forecast for minor snow accumulations on Wednesday. We're still forecasting widespread 1-2" of accumulating snow across the interior with lower amounts near the immediate coast. We still expect most of the snowfall to occur during the evening commute which may cause slow downs for people traveling at that time.
