Good afternoon everyone, Here is the latest update regarding the potential snowfall late Sunday, Sunday night into early Monday morning and the bitterly cold weather to follow early next week. *Snow Potential...* - Snow arrives Sunday afternoon, with the steadiest and heaviest snow Sunday evening and overnight, then tapering off early Monday morning. - Still 2 days away, so uncertainty on exact location of the rain/snow line, areas of heaviest snow bands and exact snow amounts. - The potential exists for 4-8" of snow in the watch area, with locally higher amounts possible, depending on the location and duration of heavier snow bands. Good afternoon everyone, Here is your updated briefing on a few upcoming bouts of winter weather. While we are still several days away and confidence is on the lower side, there is increasing confidence that southern New England will experience a round of snowfall Sunday evening into Monday. Attached is the current probability of exceeding 3 inches of snow. This will be refined in the coming days. As for next week's arctic outbreak, bitter cold temperatures are still expected early to mid week. [2025.01.15 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing - Update on Cold Weather Hazards For Early to Middle of Next Week

Good afternoon, With the holiday weekend ahead, we wanted to provide an early heads-up regarding the arrival of the coldest air yet experienced to this point in the winter season which is set to arrive in Southern New England Monday and continuing through at least Wednesday. This will lead to a period of well below normal temperatures and the potential for low wind chills. Attached graphics include forecast high and low temperatures for Monday through Wednesday, as well as the probabilities of experiencing sub-zero wind chills and the probabilities of experiencing wind chills of 10 below or colder for Monday and Tuesday. Forecast confidence is high on below normal temperatures, although how low wind chills may reach is less clear as these will depend on expected wind speeds. We are also monitoring the potential for a minor-accumulating snowfall preceding the colder air for Sunday evening into Monday, although confidence in the details specific to this potential system are low at this time. Unless there are significant changes that would warrant otherwise, expect the next update to this briefing to be sent *by late Thursday afternoon*. Thank You! Good morning, Attached is an updated one-page briefing and wind gust forecast graphic regarding the strong, to possibly damaging, winds into this evening. There are no significant changes this morning. Confidence remains high for widespread gusts of 45 to 55 mph, with a low probability of isolated gusts up to 60 mph possible, particularly across western and central Massachusetts. Winds are expected to diminish late tonight into Friday morning, with gusts decreasing to 25 to 35 mph. Additionally, much colder temperatures are anticipated on Friday, with highs in the 30s, and potentially sub-freezing highs over the weekend. Good morning everyone, Attached is an updated one-page briefing and wind gust forecast graphic on the potential for strong and possibly damaging winds tonight and especially Thursday. No changes have been made to the forecast this morning. While confidence is high in seeing widespread gusts of 45 to 55 mph, there is also the possibility of some locations seeing gusts as high as 60 mph, especially in western and central Massachusetts. If our confidence increases in these higher gusts, some areas may be upgraded to High Wind Warnings later today. Winds will diminish later Thursday night into Friday morning with gusts of 25 to 35 mph. Good afternoon, Attached is a one-page briefing with details on the current forecast and the challenges we are monitoring. We are closely monitoring the potential for strong to damaging wind gusts as we approach the new year. Wind gusts are now expected to increase by late Wednesday afternoon and persist through Thursday evening, with the strongest winds during the day on Thursday. Confidence is high that all of southern New England will experience gusts of 45 to 55 mph, with isolated gusts up to 60 mph. As a result, a Wind Advisory has been issued for all of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, effective from late Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening. One forecast challenge is the potential for gusts to reach 60 mph in localized areas, including western and central Massachusetts. However, confidence in aerial coverage is currently too low to issue a High Wind Watch or Warning for these locations. If confidence increases, these areas may see an upgrade from a Wind Advisory to a High Wind Warning. Winds will begin to diminish overnight Thursday into Friday morning with gusts 25 to 35 mph. Additionally, much colder temperatures are expected Friday, with highs in the 30s, and potentially sub-freezing highs over the weekend. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. [2024.12.28 AM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Light Icing Expected Through This Morning

Good morning, Following is an update regarding the ongoing light freezing event which will lead to hazardous travel conditions this morning for locations north and west of Interstate 95. The main change compared to the prior briefing is that the duration of icing is now expected to be shorter, with temperatures either expected to warm to above freezing sooner and precipitation tapering off by late this morning. This has led to small reductions in the forecast light icing amounts. We still expect hazardous road conditions to develop this morning for areas north and west of Interstate 95, but especially in the Connecticut Valley and Merrimack Valley. The Winter Weather Advisory continues with freezing rain currently occurring, but we expect to be able to cancel or expire most of or all of the Advisory prior to its 1 PM expiration. Supporting graphics sent in Friday afternoon's weather briefing sent Friday afternoon are still valid. This will be the final weather briefing regarding this weather event. Thank You!
