Good afternoon everyone, Attached is our latest and final update on the heavy rain tonight into Thursday. *There have not been any significant changes in our latest update from the last briefing.* We still anticipate a widespread 1-3" of rain with isolated spots of 4"+ possible. This may result in flooding of urban areas, basement flooding, along with rivers and streams. The Thursday morning commute will likely be impacted, especially the first part of it. We've also attached the latest Northeast River Forecast Center (NERFC) forecasts for the Pawtuxet River at Cranston, RI and the Wood River at Hope Valley, RI. Good morning everyone, Attached is an update on the threat of heavy rain and potential flooding for late today into Thursday morning. We continue to expect widespread 2-3" of rainfall with a swath of up to 4" possible. These rainfall totals may result in minor to moderate river flooding as well as urban and poor drainage flooding. *There have been no significant changes to the forecast since the last briefing. * In the ensemble river forecast graphics attached, here are the trends since the last update: Pawtuxet River at Cranston, RI: Median flood forecast (blue) has trended *higher** Wood River at Hope Valley, RI: Median flood forecast (blue) has trended *higher** **These probabilistic hydrographs show the range of possible outcomes. If the higher rainfall totals materialize, the higher river level probabilities will be realized. Good afternoon everyone, The threat of heavy rain continues for late Wednesday, Wednesday night and lingering into Thursday morning. A widespread 2-3" of rainfall is likely with a swath of up to 4" possible. These rainfall totals may result in minor to moderate river flooding as well as urban and poor drainage flooding. What has changed from our last briefing: - *The flood watch has been expanded from southeast MA and RI into most of CT (Greater Hartford-Springfield area) and central-eastern MA, including Greater Boston area.* Graphics included - flood watch, ensemble river forecast and hydrographs for the Pawtuxet River at Cranston, RI and the Wood River at Hope Valley, RI. Good morning everyone, We wanted to send a heads up email regarding an expected round of heavy rain late Wednesday and Wednesday night which has the potential to drop a widespread 1 to 3 inches of rain with locally higher amounts. These rainfall totals may result in minor to moderate river flooding as well as urban and poor drainage flooding. A Flood Watch has been issued for Wednesday afternoon through Thursday for most of Rhode Island and a portion of southeast Massachusetts (see attached graphics). [2024.02.28 PM] NWS Boston EM Briefing: Strong to Damaging Winds Tonight into Thu AM

Good afternoon, Attached is our final weather briefing for this event. Overall not much of a change in the forecast, but the Wind Advisory for Berkshire, western Franklin, western Hampshire and western Hampden counties has been upgraded to a High Wind Warning. Our second surge of strong to damaging winds occurs this evening from west to east as a cold front sweeps through. Winds rapidly shift to the west and northwest as the front slides through. Rain will briefly change over to snow as precipitation winds down and temperatures will be crashing. Snow accumulations will be limited to a coating to an inch, with an inch most likely across the higher elevations. There is a low risk for isolated icy spots, especially where minor accumulation occurs. The strong winds and rapid drying will dry out pavement before any freezing occurs in most spots. Good morning, Attached is our latest weather briefing. *Headlines:* - High Wind Warning remains in effect for Cape Cod and the Islands - Wind Advisory remains in effect for the rest of MA, RI, and CT. This includes central and western MA, which was previously under a High Wind Watch. Two surges of very strong to damaging winds remain in the forecast. The first surge will be today lasting into early this evening, with strong to damaging south winds. The second surge of wind will occur this evening into tomorrow morning, with strong to damaging west to northwest winds. Winds remain gusty at 30-45 mph through tomorrow evening. Heavy windswept rain will likely cause hazardous travel tonight. Rain briefly turns to snow, as temperatures crash into the 30s and 20s behind the cold front tonight. Any snow accumulations will be light, generally less than an inch. Subfreezing temperatures combined with any residual/leftover road moisture, may yield slippery travel tonight into tomorrow morning on untreated surfaces. Good afternoon, Attached is our latest weather briefing. *What has changed:* - High Wind Warning in effect for Cape Cod and the islands - High Wind Watch has been expanded into northern Worcester county - Wind Advisory expanded into all of northern CT, including Hartford county - Wind Advisory expanded from southern Worcester, Middlesex & Essex counties Two surges of very strong to damaging winds remain in the forecast. The first surge will be Wednesday afternoon into early evening, with very strong to damaging south winds. The second surge of wind will occur later Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, with strong to damaging northwest winds. The long duration of south winds may enhance the wind damage potential across Cape Cod and the islands. Hence, the upgrade to a High Wind Warning for those locations. Heavy windswept rain will likely cause hazardous travel Wednesday night. Rain briefly turns to snow, as temperatures crash into the 30s and 20s behind the cold front Wednesday night. Any snow accumulations will be less than an inch, except 1-2" possible in the Berkshires. Good morning, Forecast confidence continues to grow in a strong to damaging wind event to occur in southern New England Wednesday through Thursday. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the I-95 corridor in Massachuests and Rhode Island, Cape Cod and the Islands, and NE Connecticut. A High Wind Watch is in effect for the Berkshires. We still anticipate two surges of wind. The first surge will be Wednesday afternoon to evening with strong south winds. The second surge of wind will occur overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning with strong to damaging northwest winds. Heavy windswept rain will likely cause hazardous travel Wednesday night. Good afternoon everyone, Attached is our latest weather briefing for Wednesday into Thursday, when strong to possibly damaging winds impact the region. There will be two surges of wind, south winds Wednesday into Wednesday evening, followed by west winds later Wednesday night into Thursday. The strong west winds will be accompanied by rapid falling temperatures, with readings in the 50s Wednesday evening tumbling into the 20s in only a 1-2 hour time period. This combined with rain possibly ending as a brief period of snow along with any leftover road moisture freezing, may result in slippery travel.
